  1. Hi everyone

We have received the same email as Trains4u , it is so annoying and frustrating to receive such an email after being allocated stock of such being a supposedly tier 1 retailer and having to ring and disappoint loyal customers though no fault of our making apart from trusting Hornby with regards to our allocated products.

What is even more annoying is that the said items are available to pre-order direct from Hornby ! Do Hornby just want to go back to where they were 6 years ago with complete disregard to their relationship with retailers? It’s ok apparently for retailers to stock slow moving products when Hornby have had their money for such but when it comes to desirable items we can sell and get an immediate return on , we can’t get any but Hornby can sell direct?

    Very annoyed from Warrington

  5. Great announcement !! upon release we will be offering pristine and weathered versions of 45022 Lytham St Annes as well as other renumbered and weathered versions!!

I now know why they wouldn't let me commission one of the sealed beam Peaks a couple of years ago!

  8. Many thanks for your kind remarks. Over the last three years the shop has really developed and we will update you with photos soon. In the meantime we have just added a new selection of over sixty weathered locomotives to the website. These can be viewed at:

  9. One little thing which seems to be overlooked, is the question of warranty repairs, as far as I can make out ( and could be wrong here ) is that for Hornby to repair under warranty

the item in question has to be returned from the dealer from which the item was purchased , for which Hornby will have a record of such item being supplied to the retailer.

Where does that leave the bargain hunters who buy off traders without overheads who source from the wholesaler?

Bachmann have the same system in hand, if it's not purchased from an official dealer then it has no warranty.

  10. We received our Evening Stars today, great looking loco but was surprised that ,although etched name plates are supplied to fit, the loco doesn't have printed ones.

I can imagine a few will get ruined by people trying to fit them as the loco doesn't quite look right without them. The livery is an excellent reproduction.

  11. Tried to order over the phone but was advised to buy online, apparently selling very fast as I asked if they would have any for sale at Warley and they think they will all be gone at the rate they are selling.

My very good lady has ordered me one for Xmas so the one I ordered will get renumbered after seeing what or if Hornby announce another red one next year. Coventry is favourite for the renumbering plus flashes :sungum:

  12. I don't understand, you can remove the coal on the new one. You need to remove the coal to see the lovely coal pusher detail in the new tender. I have chucked the coal load from my Stanier in my bits box with all the others.

    Alex

I have thrown quite a few out this week too, only half full bunkers I will be supplying! too much detail to go to waste with a full load!

  13. That cabside stripe was regarded as a crude defacing thing by railway enthusiast around at the time. Times have certainly changed when folk say it would look nice.....

That said, it would have to be on a model if the period was towards the end of the Duchesses lives.

That is the issue, it would really reduce the timespan of the layout and more importantly reduce how many Duchesses I could have on it !

  14. It seems Hornby are up to their old tricks again though, ie short supplying to some retailers but seemingly supplying plenty to others.

I would agree that seems to be the case, it seems strange that they went from sold out on pre-order a few weeks ago to having plenty. I know what answer I would get if I asked Hornby for some more!
