  1. 'll never learn will I, just received my Hornby SECR H class having ordered some of the Bachmann SECR coaches to go with it, apart from a large scratch on the bunker the loco runs like a three legged cow backwards and on close examination its either a bent axle or bad coupling rod lock, oh and a set of the steps is hanging off. Phoned the shop and none in stock and none expected, Hornby sold out to pre orders. I am really starting to hate Hornby utterly unreliable, well actually they can be relied upon to produce crap.

So now that's the Hornby D400, Hornby S15 and now the H all with unforgivable quality control issues, oh then we have the Maunsell coaches with dragging breaks and a host of other things.

It's so very upsetting when you are forced to advance order due to pathetically small runs only to receive something that has been treated with contempt! Do there Chinese factories only work on Friday nights? :(

How are other peoples H's running?

Maybe a way forward is to buy from a retailer where you can inspect the product and see it run before purchase?

  2. A question for my fellow retailers:

Has anyone else not received (or been allocated) the number of Coronations that Hornby have acknowledged advance orders on? (and I am talking orders made back as far as December 2016)

We received ours yesterday and got the full amount pre-ordered at the start of the year but have ordered a batch from AB GEE just in case there was another Peckett situation.

I have done the same with the Pecketts for next year as i think Hornby will look to sell out on pre-order by producing smaller runs.

  3. Regarding the 'close' coupled option the gap is still quite big and the coupling bar fouls the Satans plug connection, will be fabricating a new one to get the gap smaller. Beautiful runner straight from box, has been chipped (sound one to follow) just wants running in then very light weathering!

  4. I rang Ian Allan Waterloo this morning and his 4D-022-002 - 68005 have all gone (they had 4 in yesterday and all sold already). But Grimmy Times still have some of both the DRS versions i think.

I might try and ping the plates off my 68005 and move them up by 0.5m to cover the glue, if I dont feel brave enough will probably sell the loco now i've purchased another.

Hi , Just to advise Grimy Times has only 2x 68002 Intrepid left . All the Defiants have now sold.
