  1. Here’s the progress on the crane, sorry about the dingy background! I’ve got the operator’s cabin to finish and then prime and paint, and also finish the chain with a weight ball and hook.
  2. No way is this boring! Loving it Giles.
  3. I think the brickwork is more or less finished. The risk now is to keep fiddling with it and over-egg the omelette so to speak. Work will next progress to the staircase and timber-work up to floor level, along with the door to the locking room and windows of course.
  4. Hi animal, just found this thread, can't imagine how I've missed it! Your work is incredible and very clean and crisp. I shall shortly be embarking on a schedule of re-building rolling stock for Midland in Bristol and I'm absolutely sure I will be referring back to this wonderful thread for inspiration. Many thanks for posting. Richard
  5. That’s very kind of you. Maybe the slight covering of dust is a bit of a give-away...!
  6. What's not finished about them may I ask.....?!
  7. Some small progress today - the blanks have been clad in plastikard, ready for the addition of bolt details. The left hand blank is the base for the operator’s cabin which will have a glazed top half. Finer details on the yard are progressing nicely, more pics to follow... However, I must confess I have become slightly distracted with a competition started by the LNWR boys, making a 1:24 signal cabin, cut away to show the fully detailed interior. Yes...bonkers but happy...!
  8. Here are the walls all finished as far as construction is concerned. I’ve painted over with a rough colour approximating to mortar; not too fussed about the exact shade at this stage as the next stage will be to add the brick colours and then wash over the mortar colour last.
  9. Looking good. If I might be so bold, it would look even better if the barrow crossing planks came right up to the outside faces of the rails.
  10. Fantastic pictures and drawings - thank you for posting, Osgood. I’ve started the blanks for the crane but will alter some of them to accommodate this new info. Thanks once again.
  11. This is a crane. No, really it is...honest guv.
  12. A bit of progress over the past few days on the walls. The aim being to get the brick base completely finished before moving on to the top half. The walls are all scribed and a start has been made to add the sloping string courses, machined up from maple. I’ve also got the row of corbelled headers to add above the windows and door. Once all the details are added, I’ll fix the walls together and finish scribing the corners so they all meet neatly.
  13. Hmm, interesting and thanks. Do you know if any photos exist of the rear elevation? Although I think what I'm going to do is model it on flat 'ground' anyway; more of a display board really than a full scenic setting. It is only based on Beeston after all, not a slavish copy. Hopefully tonight I will have cut out and scribed the remaining wall sections and maybe get round to gluing them up into a box.
  14. Love the poo! I can smell it from here!
  15. Those of you who thought I was bonkers to attempt a water tank with a thousand minuscule bits of plasticard triangles stuck on it were quite correct. It was bonkers. Back to the drawing board....and this is as far as it got! And is probably as far as it will go...! Still, I think the wall and support structure makes quite an interesting construction in its own right.
