  1. I Plan to have the boards out from the walls when I am constructing the layout so I think it would work okay to model at that width. The Layout will probably have to be on wheeled legs as it will need to be moved into a corner at times when the shed is being used for other things, and so thats the maximum size I can have to be able to store it there. That's a good idea regarding the concealed fiddle yard , i'll keep that in mind if i decide to go for an industrial setting as that could be relatively straightforward to acheive
  2. Hi everyone, I've Recently rekindled my love for railways and modelling, and am looking for some advice on how to plan my 00/4mm layout. The Space I currently have available is 9ft x 3ft 6in (274 x 107 cm), so I think an end-to-end layout would be most realistic and practical for this area. I had been considering contstructing an industrial harbour scene, as it would fit well in the long but narrow space, however I do have more interest in rural modelling and so a branch line station/terminus may also be possioble. I have never planned a layout before past a simple oval layout with some sidings, so any advice. layout plans or threads I should look at would be great. I'd like to strike a balance between scenery and operations potential whilst still being believable. I haven't decided on where I would like to base my model upon yet, but probably big Four/ Early-BR Era, or maybe BCDR as I am from Northern Ireland, although this may be more challenging for a first layout as it is a lesser-modelled area.
