Does the guy do LNWR wagons or perhaps freelance ones?

Just an update (the first in a long time): *The layout will be picking up where it last left off. *Construction will resume at long last. *The station signs have been ordered and are on their way sometime next week. *The Edwardian-era figures will soon be added to the layout. *The signal box will soon be built. More on this as it develops along with pictures of the layout and possible addition of 3D-printed rolling stock.

My 1980S Hornby Railways-style LNER Streamlined B17/5 is finally taking shape once again and it is coming along nicely. I will be posting pics soon and keep everyone to do with the model. My 1960s Tri-ang Hornby-style George the Ffith is also doing okay pretty much, too; it just needsdetailing and also the right authentic packaging for it same with my other models. Also, I have been at work on several projects myself: *Retro-style models in celebration of Hornby's Centenary Year (or whatever's left of it) *Pre-Grouping Vintage Trains (which I started in late-2016/early-to-mid-2017 prior to joining this website) *Taking modern-day train companies and giving them the Steam-era (mostly Pre-Grouping) treatment What do you think of these ideas?

And now, as an added bonus, a brake van bash! The chassis is a cut-down Hornby Four Wheel Coach chassis cut and shut together. The body is a but-built yet sorry-looking LSWR brake van body which was then repaired and painted in WMR grey with black roof. Note that this was also my first time lettering freight wagons so please excuse me on some parts.

Work on the 2P 4-4-0 is nearing completion, work on the 3F 0-6-0 will soon commence - just a heads up! Once I apply the lining, numberplates and coat of arms, it'll be complete! Expect photographs here, soon. (Just like I promised; my WMR 3F 0-6-0!) You'll have to excuse the lighting, but this was the hard work I put into it. You can see the GWR milk churn safety valve, the LNWR piano-front and the Belpaire firebox. The tender has also been modified at the back. The model runs well in both directions. Now, I was intending to paint it into the plain unlined violet livery or keep it black - what do you folks think? Personally, I was hoping to give her the violet livery in the same style as the GER Y14, the SECR C Class (which I used), the GWR 2301 Class and the Midland 3F Class 0-6-0. My railway company would be a much fanciful one as with keeping in the Pe-grouping aesthetic.

Well, after an improvement to the sides and cab, it looks much better and smoother. Nothing wrong with a bit of sanding and smoothing down as well as repainting - the lining will come in due time as well as numberplates and company Coat of Arms if possible.

Ah, yes! I was thinking very carefully about that. Perhaps the United Caledonian Railway would be a good company, thanks for the suggestion! The United Caledonian Railway it is, then.

That all seems rather complicated but it's not something I'd be willing to try. It's more of an expert thing, really. Mind you, I did happen to think up a London and South Eastern Railway 4-4-2 Atlantic if you wish to hear.

Here's what I made with one, an LNWR 19" Express Goods 4-6-0: Yes, I know that the wheels and chassis are all too similar, but it was the best I could work with. This, along with other projects, fuelled my interest in the Pre-Grouping Era. I am working on an LMS version of it, but sadly the project has been stalled.

The LNWR Prince of Wales and Claughton locomotives I like as well as the GER S69 and the GNR C1 Atlantic. Say, how could you make a 4-6-0 chassis into a 4-4-2 chassis?

To let everyone know, I was doing alright with my 2P; I meant to share pics of it here but unfortunately my old phone was being a bit of a pain and testing my paitence, so I have to share links to them instead: The brass chimney is now painted except the chimney cap and the firebox now smoothened off has been repainted along with the splashers. Hopefully, with my new phone, it will be easier for me to share more pics of the model here, hopefully.

So, after today, or at least tonight,, my WMR 2P has been improved on as you can see in the photographs Yes, I know that the Milliput I use is white, but after an black undercoat followed by the darkened Battleship grey I used on the tender, it'll look nicer. Just sharing some progress on my 2P - my next locos in my WMR fleet I hope to do are the 0-6-2T and 0-4-4T tank engines, the 0-6-0 mixed-traffic/goods tender engine and possibly a modified ex-GCR/ROD Class 2-8-0, mainly the GWR 30xx variant with some modifications to the tender, running-board and boiler. When the shapework is done, I must decide whether to paint the locomotive plain goods black or plain dark violet. My coaches as you can see will soon be picked up on along with the livery.

Some more has been done on the 2P! The original chimney has been replaced with a GWR 78xx Manor chimney which I thank is a lot better and wider than the original chimney. Soon, I will be using a Bachmann C Class 0-6-0 for the mixed-traffic/goods locomotive, a Hornby H Class 0-4-4T and a Bachmann 0-6-2T for my own WMR tank engines.

And I quite agree with you, Sir! In fact, I am intrigued by engines from smaller companies, even joint ones. The dark violet is what I went for.

Here I am back with the shade of dark violet I was talking about. Yes, I know it looks brown, but this was the best I can do. I'll take a better picture of it in the daytime.

After so much effort and work, here are the locomotives I have planned and designed similar to Pre-Grouping steam locomotives. The passenger and freight rolling stock will soon be added to the roster. I will be creating my own coaches inspired by the GWR, Midland clerestory coaches and the SECR Birdcage Coaches. The brake van I once created will be added to the list as I already had it pre-made beforehand.

To answer your question, it is a rain cover as when steam locomotives are not in use or on display mainly outside, enthusiasts or preservation members would put them on as to prevent rain from dripping inside the safety valves into the smokebox. I hope that's helped.

The train looks similar to the movie version of the Hogwarts Express (a GWR Hall Class used in real-life) minus its tender. I'm starting to see the connection.

Well, here's more of my Saint Class as promised.

This thread makes me think about the WMR tank engines.I would have an 0-6-0T, an 0-4-4T, an 0-6-2T and an 0-8-0T. An 0-6-0T for shunting and branchline traffic, an 0-4-4T for local suburban passenger, an 0-6-2T for mixed-traffic duties and local branchline traffic and an 0-8-0T for heavy shunting and coal trains. Of course, I would have to find some locos to work with.

Nice suggestions, there! I would need to find a Triang Jinty body and the right 0-4-4T chassis to accommodate it (Possibly the SECR H Class chassis) as well as a GWR smokebox door without BR numberplate and the right cab for it. Three simple rules come to mind for a good working model- strength, character and accuracy. The first locomotive I started work on was the 3P 4-4-0 using a Hornby D49 with the removed cylinders, valve gear and steam pipes. The cab has been altered to look less LNER, I will be posting pics of the model in progress as I am basing my 3P on the ACE Trains O Gauge Freelance 4-4-0. Known as the Celebration Class, I intend to make a 00 version of it in WMR livery alongside this O Gauge Basset-Lowke 0-6-0 Goods Locomotive I also plan to model in 00 respectively. I was thinking of getting away with using a Bachmann C Class 0-6-0 model with modified splashers to do the job although there may be other 0-6-0 tender locomotives to choose from.
