  1. Some people have mentioned boycotting his products... What if Hatton's, Kernow and any other model shop that stocks his stuff just drops him over all this???

People have pointed out certain issues with this guy from day one and its always been stifled or shouted down by those backing him in one way or another... After this latest "announcement" I cant see why anyone would stick up for him. Its the "poor old me" routine over and over again but now less people seem to care!

There are details on his website.

I find it interesting that he’s effectively been forced into making a response because of the other announcement. Yet when the important people, his customers, ask questions or are after some updates there is little in the way of answers or very slow to respond.. This isn’t taking into account the secret emails... There is still no updates on most the other projects announced by DJM..........

Specifically the crowdfunding is about that it delivers that defined number of models to the people that paid up and covers its costs . It is not about sales of subsequent runs in the future.  So walking away will damage the project.

The problem is that we have seen before people saying they will commit to a model but the numbers subsequently turn out not to be there.  The initial "ooh I'll have 10 of these " response is replaced by a dose of financial reality.

My suspicion is that people will walk away . But then what happens to the remainder . Work has been done and paid for . Will they lose out if this doesn't go ahead or will monies be refunded ?  I sense this is the defining moment for Crowdfunding in model railways.  Depending on the outcome it could kill Crowdfunding stone dead.

The other thing we might find out is if the required number of people actually signed up in the first place making this project viable. Its easy to say that the required target has been met and run with the project in the hope that more will sign up to pay the remainder of the costs, but if like what has happened and another model comes along and takes a share of that hoped for remainder costs the project ends up S**T creek without a paddle!

    More woe for DJ?

This bloke just can't catch a break poor chap.

Is it about catching a break though? I don't see Accurascale, RevolutioN or any of the other new manufactures having half as many problems as DJM seems to be having. Dave seems to be more of a project manager and if he's not asking for the right things in the first place then its no wonder things keep going pear shaped for him.

  5. Can someone who has the email post it up, or are we all bowing to Daves increasingly desperate excuses/pleas and obeying him

Im sure his absence can be explained as he has set up a new religious cult somewhere, as he clearly has the ability to manipulate people and get their money based on loads of empty promises

Well he wasn't exactly courteous to other manufacturers when he gave away what new models were to be announced. Why he think's he commands that kind of respect I don't know!

  6. I wondered about that Bill.

Wasn't there a scanning party at Crewe to digitally scan the sole surviving APT ? Does the scanning equipment accurately record the dimensions of the items being scanned ?

Well you'd think so wouldn't you! Seems like even more bad luck on top of all the previous bad luck with other things.. Or maybe it's a communication problem..

Does seem to be more and more people voicing their reservations which others had said about long ago but got shouted down.

  7. You might be happy Gary with the risk and throwing £1000 in Dave's direction but someone else might not be.

They might contact Dave directly but they can also post on here seeing as Dave has used this site to his advantage to get his name about and engage with people when he sees fit. How would you of found out about this project otherwise?

The point is, its not up to you or I what others decide to do with their money or who asks questions or whether they drag up things if they are not sure about something. Ouroborus only pointed out that he thought the T&Cs contradict themselves (which they do) and you decided to label him a keyboard warrior etc..

Do you not think every time you go and label someone something for asking question that you yourself might be putting people off?

  8. See all the keyboard warriors and doom merchants are at it yes it is old news not sure why so many people are trying to cause trouble yet again

If anything I'd say you are the one sounding like a keyboard warrior. People are asking perfectly reasonable questions (which should of been sorted out long ago, especially the legal stuff!) and you're straight in there to shoot them down and stamp your feet at them just because they take a different view to you!

  9. If someone does decide to do it RTR I hope they do their research. The K class were a minefield for detail differences!

If you're prepared to build a kit though instead of wishing your life away I know that South Eastern Finecast are working on the old K's/Nu cast one by fixing some of the errors and giving it a new chassis..

  10. I never mentioned the word 'troll' and you never answer specific questions, which is damning, on your part, in and of itself.

This isn't doing your arguments or credibility any good.

I shall leave it there for now, as life is too short and give you some naughty step time, then you can have some time with your track mat before bedtime. LOL!

Sorry but what exactly do I have to answer to you? You asked my interest and I replied. You are the only one arguing about things and you're the one with no interest. Now you're throwing childish insults about. Might want to look at your own creditibity?!

  11. Oh one of those are you?

A general purpose shill as opposed to an apologist or paid up shill?

Please note the ?'s as I'm still enquiring as to your reason d'être on this Thread, because strangely enough I don't believe you.

Are we to believe that your 30 plus posts, aimed at DJM are coincidental, 30 odd posts and nowt else about you?

Have you PMd DJM or written to DJM, in a gentlemanly manner re your grievences? Rather than endeavouring to virtue signal and attack in open forum.

Also your online name? Is it an unfortunate coincidence or are you a doppelganger?

I don't really care what you believe. As I said for someone who has no interest Im not sure why you're getting involved? Just like an argument?

Just because I haven't posted else where doesn't mean anything. Some have only joined and praised Daves worked and not posted elsewhere. Are they counter trolls?

  12. That isn't what I asked and you know full well what I was asking.

I shall ask again, in a different wat, have you a model railway business, thus are you a competitor to DJM and/or have any interestes in a competitor's business?

If you read carefully I declared myself four square and true as an honourable fellow with no specific interests quite some time back..

Erm.. I have answered you.. My interest "WAS" as a customer to Djmodels. No model railway business.. no competition.. Just someone that was interested in a few items but has been put off by certain business practices.

As you have no specific interests you're not really in a position to question someone else really are you..

  13. Youve either misread or misquoted me.

You've written 30 odd Posts and about 25 of those are referring to what DJM has done 'wrong'.

Can you declare your business interests please - before I reply further.

My interest "was" as a customer to Djmodels.. What's your interest by the way?

I haven't misread anything. You said my argument was flawed.. but I didn't say anything about Daves business logic, I just pointed out that Dave said he was working on his first but he couldn't know that for sure..

  14. Sorry whoever you are, but i am not going to rise to any of this from you.

24-25 posts and mostly all are either slating me, or my work. (i encourage all here to check the posts out for verification)

I wonder if indeed you are the REAL 'Bill Schmidt', and i hope not.

I've said what i'm going to say and that's it. where's a moderator when you need one?

To think, i actually have to pay to get this kind of stuff now!

I believe it's about taking the rough with the smooth.. Can't see other manufacturers moaning about a few negative comments and they have had theit fair share. Even some from yourself!

You were the one that said I was inaccurate and I asked you a question in response.

  15. Using your argument - your arguement is flawed! Would you, as a one man band, with finite resources, go head to head with larger manufacturers when you then knew, for sure, four square and true, that they, with better resources were entering the market with the same product? Common sense and good business acumen dictates that you quit whilst you're ahead and cut your loses, perhaps returning to that model at a later date to infill any niches left by the big boys or abandon it and look for another opening instead.

Could you point out in my comment where I said Dave knew they were working on the same products?! I was making a point about Dave saying he was working on his before others announced the same product and how would he know that they themselves weren't already working on said items before they announced them..and even then Dave did still choose to go head to head on the class 71 and HUO and was beaten to the shelves!

  16. King, Class 71 and the 92 were all underway by myself before others announced them. just dropping that here for accuracy sake.

That's kinda flawed logic isn't it. What's to say that others were not working on theirs before they announced them? Both the Hornby King and class 71 were well advanced and reached the shops first if we're being accurate.

  17. I believe it should be highlighted that this "scrutiny and criticism" is actually a legal requirement.

Exactly! This stuff should of been in place from day one  (Nearly five years ago!) for all the projects that DJM have been doing or proposing to do seeing as you can buy direct or express an interest! Yet it's seen as "scrutiny and criticism" to even mention it.

  18. I have to say, I have never met Dave, but the overriding impression created reading these comments and conversations with trade friends gives an impression of an extremely haphazard lacadaisacal approach to business and all of the 'behind the scenes' stuff. I wouldn't feel confident in parting with any hard earned until product was available to see and purchase. Good luck, you're going to need it.

I totally agree Lee and have heard much the same. I was after a few items but will wait and see if they turn up first before taking the risk

Yes, imagine if this was Hornby missing even one filing date, let alone getting a notification of strike-off.

I'm sure it would of run into pages in the double figures by now if this was Hornby!

  19. Hi everyone,

Due to yearly accounts going in late to Companys House for the period , end July 2017, they have put this as a sort of threat for me to get those done.

The accounts should be formalised and back in shape with C.H. over this weekend.

It will be twice ive missed the dates in 2 years running, so this is really just a 'shot across the bow' for DJM to get its house in order.

It has nothing to do with PayPal or DJM's finances, merely myself taking my eye off the ball.

    Hope this helps clarify things.

    cheers

    Dave

Its not really a threat when you've admitted yourself that you've been late 2 years running. Maybe time spent sorting your own finances would be better than making comments on how Hornby should sort theirs?

  20. I can see why the two farm owners are unhappy about it but I think the way they are trying any old excuse its pretty pathetic. I'd have more respect for them if they just said they didn't want to give up the land they now own.

As has been said one of the farmers is currently seeking planning permission to build some 100 odd houses on one of his other farms yet most of their argument has been about the effect to the countryside, environment and the greed of the KESR trying to make more money. They also say it will effect the way the work their farm, yet some of the land they own isn't used for farming. Since the building of the houses on one of the farmers land has come to light there has been a shift in their argument over to the proposed level crossing on the A21. They say it will cause more traffic problems, is dangerous etc but again I haven't seen them campaigning for people to cut down on car usage or making people more aware of level crossing safety (and there are a already a few other crossing in the area).

Any argument that is put forward for the railway they just shoot down and don't seem to be prepared to listen. They have a Faceache page which just seems to be the two families and friends arguing with anyone that wants the railway.

As I said I can see why they are unhappy but they don't seem to be doing themselves any favours either..

  21. but the way in which it was tackled by the 'announcement of an announcement' approach.  In today's marketplace that sort of approach suggests something exciting, novel, different, or so on and that was the expectation that understandably grew and frothed around this announcement.

Another manufacturer has been making loads of "announcements of an announcement" for quite some but never gets the flack Hornby have seem to. I do think Hornby are missing a trick by not using The Engine Shed for these type of announcements though.
