  1. snap. (About being new here, just starting O gauge because you suddenly acquired a loco) I built a slaters van and spend ages cutting the strip, filling gaps, making it look like a u shaped beam Then noticing you could see it. And then having to cut bits away to add the brake bits. I laugh about it now. The next one I just did the left and right hand edges of the under frame. Sorry no photos as nearly everything is in storage at the moment
  2. I did think the word safety in safety flux would mean it was safer to use. On the j72 chassis, how will you solder the brake pull rods without rusting the wheels? Taking notes for when I get round to building the one in the maturing cupboard.
  3. I'll try the hot water and bleach and see what happens. As a weathering method it is a bit slow. Don't clean and leave in a box for a couple of years. I've two questions about the wheels. How do I get them out ( and a new set back in) without breaking anything? And how do you protect the wheels from flux when they are in the wagon and you need to solder near the wheels?
  4. Hi I built this a couple of years ago, and I though I'd cleaned everything before I painted it. Taking it out of a cupboard of week ago, I guess I didn't clean it as well as a thought. There are some very green deposits where something has reacted with something else. (I never took chemistry, that's the most technical I can manage) I think I used Gauagemaster safety flux. Is there anything I can coat the green and white deposits with to stop them spreading? Mark
  5. Hi Thanks for the welcome Before I disappear into the rest of the forum, and start asking question, this is the current state of the layout. Simply to operate, digit powered. Lack a certain something.
  6. Hi So after I long time lurking I've actually joined. I'm interested in 4mm LNER locos, but with the arrival of children and housemoves I haven't actually managed to start a layout yet. I do have plans. Lots of plans, and I soon as I win the lottery I'll start. Because of my intrest in the LNER and NER railways, I've bought a BR blue Dapol O gauge 08. I'm hoping if I tell someone about it they can explain why. Yours Confused (Mark)
