" success ballast ".
Is F1 the only sport that seems to try and make itself more interesting every year by changing rules etc ..
Does rugby change the post size/ spacing etc ??!
They seem to have no confidence in it staying interesting long term

Round here even the stations with security guards can’t enforce the no smoking on the platforms rules, how would they been able to enforce mask wearing, with the possible exception of holding up every train until the unmasked left the vehicle with the various consequences that entails.

Could you explain why you don't save and shut down overnight?
I've heard of others that do as you do but can't understand the logic.
Simply because of the nature of the work I am doing, I can have a long term project and three or four urgent projects on the go, plus other staff phoning in for ad-hoc support on their work.
This can easily mean 8 or so spreadsheets, 4 different browsers with multiple tabs, various emails and a Remote Desktop open at the same time across two screens. Trying to remember them all the following day and pick it all up again from where it’s left off is far easier if they are simply open already.- 4

I preferred windows 7 over 10 purely for the much less invasive upgrade process. Being able to choose when to install updates was far more convenient. I work from home and tend to sleep the pc Monday to Friday, with whatever I am working on left open overnight, Coming back in the morning and finding the pc had restarted closing emails and up to 8 spreadsheets etc is a PITA….
I have subsequently found a way to disable the auto restarts overnight in the GPO but it becomes a real hanging dog whenever something is pending meaning all I gain is the ability to save everything and hit restart. I recently lost an hour to the restart on an i5 processor and 8gb ram….
As for office 365 and one-drives technique of auto-saving after every single action don’t get me started….

We had the opposite issue when relocating a warehouse a couple of years back. The stock for one load was being sent to two sites a mile apart with a relatively low 4.7m bridge in between.
We booked it accordingly with the depot and carefully checked the vehicle heights with the driver before despatching a trailer with 10 pallets for one site and 14 for the other. He gets to the first site and unloads, resets his truck specification satnav and promptly refuses to go to the second site as it says he won’t fit and he won’t make the long way round (circa 30 miles) and then his next collection within his hours.
Turned out the haulier use two heights of trailer and drivers are not allowed to reset the GPS for the lower trailers under any circumstances….frustrating was an understatement….

Is the lorry a 7.5 tonnes one that can be driven on a car licence?
I found an image of the number plate in the Cornwall live news website, checking its MOT status says Gross weight of 18000kg- 2

Who takes responsibility in that situation, is it the HGV driver, the escort(s) or both as a team?

The only benefit I can see to yesterday’s race was it firmly cemented Williams constructors position above Haas and Alfa, which given their outstanding qually, through correct strategy calls, was only correct and will have the relevant financial effect at the end of the year…..every other element of it screams farce, although it happens so rarely I am not sure it is worth worrying about too much.

Apparently the airfix one is their own analogue precursor to dcc and not compatible with anything else http://www.airfixrailways.co.uk/MTC.htm

So is it just me hoping George makes a fantastic start, jumps Max and closes the door in his face, just to wind up Horner….

Where are you getting these points from? I filled in my own VAT returns for years and have not heard of any of them.
VAT is a tax on sales which is paid by the end consumer, why would it be raised on free gifts or personalised letters?
I get magazines in the post from abroad and there are no customs fees.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/zero-rating-books-and-printed-matter-for-vat-notice-70110
Gifts
VAT notice 701/10 section 6.7 - Promotional Items in Magazines.Letter
VAT notice 701/10 section 4.3 - letters
As you would see there are numerous exemptions within the full notice but not quite as simple as “no VAT on printed matter” when working commercially.

I dunno, I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that buying a Nissan Juke is a sign that someone has given up on life and should be referred to a psychiatrist….I have been caught behind three different ones this week doing half the speed limit on dry, empty roads with good visibility and absolutely no reason for not making reasonable progress…..

I don't understand why the publisher would get confused, there is no VAT on printed matter in the UK. They must also be shipping to countries outside the EU.
It’s not that simple, if they:- Include a personalised letter then VAT may apply.
- If they include vouchers for money off anything in the uk, VAT may apply.
- If they were to include free gifts VAT may apply (an example would be a printed card building kit such as the Metcalfe buildings model rail or BRM have given in the past).
and even when no VAT is due there may potentially be a customs processing fee to declare that nothing is due…

There are forklifts in warehouses that this has been happening on for years. They have roller racks and you simply drive up alongside, unplug, roll out the flat one and roll another in.
Admittedly they benefit from having a uniform vehicle fleet.

The little battery flickering tea lights you can buy instead of candles are generally “playing” an audio file from a small circuit board for the “random” effect.

Does a motorsport series need to go through the FIA or could a rival series be arranged?
Would doing so jeopardise a teams activity’s in other Formula’s?

Its not the shop's fault that the delivery driver has broken the law !!!! Its the drivers fault. Find a safe and legal place to park then deliver the goods on foot. If everyone chose only to obey the laws they saw fit to and ignored the rest it would be a free for all.
This was the shops issue, that the driver would unload at the nearest safe legal place per the terms of delivery, and wouldn’t illegally block the local bus stops whilst making their delivery….We are talking full pallets of 500kg+, the shop owner simply hadn’t considered logistics when signing the lease.

Finally, problems around deliveries are not always the fault of drivers, but rather a failure of local planning policies which, as an example, do not take into account the supply of retail and wholesale premises.
Working for a wholesaler I would suggest many of the issues are more down to retailers not choosing appropriate premises….opening a shop in a unit with a beauty saloon/hairdresser classification, a 2.4m height limit into its backyard, and double yellows on all roads for 1/3rd of a mile in every direction, and then moaning the (weekly) pallet delivery’s struggle to unload is a favourite example…- 4

Is this like our local authorities diversionary routes that have to be able to convey vehicles of all sizes, even when they are for work on bridges that are limited to 7.5T and have no bus routes passing over them anyway?
