  1. Thanks all for your advice. I managed to to get root cause and the wheels fouled the front foot steps. A quick push in has given enough clearance to negotiate 2nd radius curves. Time to enjoy this loco.
  2. Thanks for the replies. I am using peco code 100 with 2nd and 3rd radius curves. The locos derail on both circuits and at any point of the layout. I am concous that the track is not 100% level. However I only experience derailing with these two locos. I woul expect RTR models to negotiate 2nd and 3rd radius curves. There also doesn't seem to be one point of the layout causing problem it seems to be totally random. The question of speed the K1 will derail at any point even at low speeds.
  3. I have purchase in my opinion a top model from TMC of Hornby's K1 with Deluxe weathering, dcc fitted etc. Along with a P2 2-8-2 loco from another retailer. The issue I have with both locos is their front bogies just do not stay on the rails. The K1's bogie will even jump the track mid way round a curve nowhere near a point, joint or other obstacle that could cause a derailment. In taking a closer look at the loco navigating a curve it appear that the inside wheel lifts and the wheel stops rotating. I cannot believe that there are not more of us out there with the same issue? especially as I have two locos with the single axle front bogie and a 100% failure rate. Can anybody suggest anything to help here? I take it being as the K1 has been weathered and DCC fitted then they will was their hands stating that the terms of the warranty has been broken. Thanks for your support.
  4. First thing was they had read this post before I got there. They suggested a few things to try but unfortunately I had already gone through them. They asked me to send the model back to their service centre and within 10 days it was back, working fine. However running at speed the noise from the train on track is louder than the engine noise.
  5. Thanks Charlie Have now tried this on a loco that I had managed to re-programme. It didn't work. Getting fed up with Hornby now. 50% of the decoders I have bought look like they are faulty. I shall look forward to meeting somebody from Hornby tomorrow at the Electric Train Show. And wait their explanation. I couldn't even unscrew the HST body either to get that decoder out. The screws just seemed to spin and not actually undo.
  6. I have recently purchased a Lenz DCC system and excitedly purchased Hornby TTS decoders to tryout. The first one a class 31. Absolutely no problem. Worked perfectly and reprogrammed with a problem. Second decoder A3, on the mainline works an absolute dream. Reprogrammed the ID I keep getting the message error 02. Which I believe is bad contact or incorrectly fitted decoder? Ok moving on. Excitedly again I order Hornby's Virgin East Coast HST fitted this time with TTS. Power car with motor, no problems here. New I'd and all functions working fine. Dummy car? Error 02 again. The leads to the programming tack are firmly in the control unit and I am using peco power leads with fish plates so that end is certainly well connected. The track section is also new but I have clean it. Pressed down on the loco. Please help what am I doing wrong?
  7. Thanks for your help. I will search for a D5511 models
  8. Having just come back to railways recently. I would like to buy a Hornby class 31 high detail spec model. Having seen the horror models on this forum. The question I have is this problem restricted to a certain timeframe or is this model to be avoided at all costs? Cheers
