  1. I have been gradually building my way through the metropolitan steam locos stock mainly to get to achieve my goal of getting my LNER classes from A to Z complete but have branched out to making the 0-6-2T F class tank based on a much butchered dublo R1 body on an Hornby 0-6-0 chassis. Had great difficulty with the livery yesterday when I suddenly realised that the post 33 livery - I model 1937/8 - was not covered in any of the photographs I could find mainly from HC Casserley Metropolitan steam book. It seems that by late 1936 LT had managed to get to nearly all the steam stock and rebrand it but cannot find any images of the F type later than mid 36 - still branded MET or metropolitan. However did find an image of an E class lettered the way I have decided to brand my model. Anyone able to confirm then theory that I have taken before I varnish them in! I have not finished this model yet as the black sections still need to be done at least.
  2. Certainly looks like June 1970 so one purchased via a well known auction site. Many thanks to those who suggested the MRC option just what was needed thanks. One of my metropolitan tanks was built via the same method and many other plans have come my way via magazines of old. Dont mind paying for a old magazine when it has something in it I really could do with. Glad I asked the question now but it will be a time before mine gets built - thanks all
  3. I have a plan to try to complete all the LNER classes from A to Z but am being stumped by a the T1 heavy tank. I have the wheels etc all ready but am struggling for a decent side view or any idea of the sizes - never seen plans etc. Anyone any idea where I might get a basic outline plan. It is the one am guessing with at the moment. Have built two or three from a decent scaled photo before now but cannot find a decent side view of the T1. Have either a kit in box (G and Q classes) or plans and wheels for other classes not completed (E class) but the T is getting to be a problem. Just bought the Yeadons book in the hope this turns something up.
  4. Measured the voltage with a class 90 power bogie running hauling a train of 6 Mk2 coaches Not too worried about slow speed control just do not want to damage the new APT or anything else more modern that I might buy.
  5. I have just bought an APT-E having previously done some controller research decided my H&M clippers and duettes might not be the right for it. I have used these with modern Heljan Class 15 and Hornby P2 and A4 with no issues and cannot really see why the APT should not be ok however can any advise please. I know the total full speed is about 15V so would need to keep it to about 2/3 open max as this is 12V but the voltmeter I have in series seems to give a very smooth output without spikes. Rapido say it should have as little spikes as possible but cannot comment on the controller type. Please help me to get my APT-E running. I have a slightly more gaugemaster controller too but cannot find it currently (think it looks like a series D) - wonder if this might be better. I do not want to go DCC and do not really want to buy a new DC controller but equally do not want to destroy the lovely new APT-E
