  1. Research is probably my favourite part of this entire hobby! The amount of additional stuff I've learnt whilst trying to find out about a particular subject is unreal, but it adds to the wider appreciation of the railway network as a whole.
  2. I'm going to wade in with my two pennies worth on the whole age argument. I'm 23 and my earliest memories of the mainline railway are Anglia Railways 86's. As a result, I do indeed have a collection of Anglia liveried stock and I feel that there's an element of truth that people model what they remember. But equally, my primary interests and subsequent collections cater for 1980's sectorisation, 1960's green/blue transition (1968-1973) and the GER in all it's Edwardian glory. Why? Because I like them. Simple as. Would I like to see Hornby go further down the pre-grouping route? Of course! But equally am I happy they're doing 50033 in late NSE? Of course! (Incidentally, having emailed Hornby, I've been assured the shade of blue will be more accurate than the photo on their website implies!) With the modern railway lacking that element of... atmosphere... that say, BR had, is it any wonder younger modellers are happy to go with whatever takes their fancy era wise? Especially when it comes to pre-grouping. If you have no ties to an era, why wouldn't the bright colours of pre-1923 appeal?
  3. Only 350?! I'd best start hammering in some extra shifts at work then... 50010 is required!
  4. Although I don't model anything NBR, I'm glad to see Hornby go for a NBR liveried J36. Maybe this'll be the start and we might finally get a J15 done as a GER Blue Y14... The big highlight for me, however, is the announcement of 50033 - One that's been on my wishlist for some time! However, having seen the image on Hornby's website, I'm just hoping they get the shade of blue correct. If it is lighter, or the same shade as 50026 (which was meant to be the original lighter shade 0f NSE) then they'll have messed up majorly. If they do it in an appropriate darker shade, that's a guaranteed purchase for me!
  5. 50010 will have it's unique blue roof according to an article in Rail Express (There was even a picture I believe? Looked good!).
  6. I'd have said Bachmann managed to get a good few pre-grouping models out in their announcement (GNR C1 anyone?). At least they are willing to cater for a full compliment of liveries carried by a class. So far Hornby has released a range of locos with potential to carry a pre-grouping livery but they always seem to avoid it (except for their minor obsession with the LSWR). Maybe one day I'll get a GER blue Y14...
  7. There's not as many differences as you may think; Stovepipe chimney, smokebox door (pre-production photos suggested this was a separate fitting), safety valve cover (like that which has been fitted to the LSWR Radial) and removal of coal guards from the tender. The lowered cab roof and tender frame variants have been accounted for already on various releases. Admittedly, I'm not sure how easy it would be for Hornby to cater for such changes, but I have been saying ever since they released their J15 that a model of the preserved example in GER blue would be a winner. The SECR C proves the potential of modelling preserved locos in attractive pre-grouping liveries.
  8. Good evening and a (slightly belated) happy new year to you all! Now that the dust has settled following all the festivities, we at the C37LG wanted to take the opportunity to thank anyone who may have purchased items from us over the festive period. We are, of course, thankful whenever anyone choses to make a purchase through our sales team, but the past few weeks have been particularly good to us, so much so that we have actually sold all of our stocks of locos! This is an incredibly positive way to end/start the year as the money made through our sales of models goes straight back into Project 3-60 and bringing 37003 back into operation! For anyone who may be interested, we shall be putting in a new order with Bachmann on 9th January (this coming Tuesday) so if there are any requests, do let us know! Once again, thank you all for your continued support - Without you, we wouldn't be able to push forward with Project 3-60! Here's to a prosperous 2018! Kind regards James C37LG www.c37lg.co.uk

  12. Good evening! Did you know that when you shop online, you can help support 37003? For example, if you use Amazon, clicking the following link before you search for and purchase items gives our group a commission straight from the retailer! http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/redirect-home… Equally, search for a retailer using Everyclick and any subsequent purchase creates a commission revenue for our group! https://www.everyclick.com/the-class-37-locomotive-group/…/0 These can be used all year through, but with the Christmas period in full swing, now is your chance to really help us out, without having to do anything more than clicking a link! Remember, all money raised goes to bringing 37003 back into service, so all that is left for me to say is thank you and happy shopping! James C37LG www.c37lg.co.uk
  13. Good afternoon! We've got something a little different for you, but hopefully just as interesting! Following on from last nights post, we have replenished our stocks of locomotive key holders. If you haven't come across these before, they are made of steel and have been finely laser cut into detailed silhouettes of a range of loco types. These include classes 37, 47, 50, 52 and 55, along with a few steam designs! With Christmas now less than a month away, these would make for a fine but quirky gift idea. Pop on over to our ebay shop to find out more: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/c37lg/m.html Kind regards James C37LG www.c37lg.co.uk
