My goal is to pair a set of these with the Rapido Dynamometer car and my Hornby Mallard. Does anyone know which set was used for the record train? My brief foray on google shows no stock information. I know she ran with a set of 6 (3x2 pairs), but in terms of carriage numbers or at least details on how the set was composed would be useful please?

6 coaches out the spare set.

I’m in the same boat with the springs. The couplings on one of my intercity TSOs was wonky and trying to fix it resulted in the springs flying out. I found one but not the other. Can’t seem to find replacement parts for it.

See my posts above. Peters spares do them. Dapol 112743. Did the trick :)

I strongly suspect that the fairings will be mounted on the shared bogie - wasn't that how they did the APT?

    CJI.

No, i mean at the end of each pair. The gangways are mounted my magnets apparently and will be the colours of the coaches and they’re moulded with the ends of the coaches but there’s no actual way of covering them. Unlike the fairings in the middle of each twin.

  4. Just a heads up folks, the Beavertail release date has slipped again! Website now saying autumn for this, but oddly the 4 twin sets are still stated as summer…

Don't attempt using the Bachmann Std 5MT arrangement. (Bachmann only applied this to the BR stds, 4MT tank and 5MT, and wisely dropped it from models tooled thereafter, due to its aptitude for making smooth running mechanisms into three legged dogs, the first time the body had to be taken off the mechanism. Patient fiddling required to get the drive crank perfectly realigned with the axle centre.)

Far the better way is to have a rigid representation of the mechanism from the footplate underside  to outside the wheel centre, with no connection to the axle. (Hornby have done it in this style on the LNER P2, very effective.)

    thanks :)

Hello - this could be the back-to-backs on the wheels which on a long wheelbase wagon need to be spot-on. What is the back-to-back measurement?

Hi Corbs. Thanks for quick response. The b2b measurement is 15mm on both axles.

  7. Has anyone else had problems with the loriot that Dans house sits on?  Mine keeps derailing and pulling off everything coupled to it. I think the couplings are too tight and not swinging round enough. I don’t want to waggle em too much in case they snap off.

    any thoughts? Ta :)

  8. I dunno if this’ll get deleted but i have it on good authority that Bachman’s others announcements will contain a class 50 and class 87…  possibly a new pannier tank too.. (runs for cover) whether there’s any truth in this remains o be seen.

I am going to research this latter so not being lazy but wondering if anyone knows if any of the original non streamliners  (6230-4) ever ran with ex streamliner tenders? Reason I ask is that I have acquired a full footplate body (ex 46232) and have in the spares a chassis and complete tender ex 46235. Both BR green. I think 46249-52 would have originally had streamlined tenders (ordered as streamliners and tenders completed before loco's which were delivered unstreamlined)  but would like to model 46230-4 if there is prototype evidence. Perhaps 46242 post Harrow as well?

So just got the latest version of the model 32-489SF in Rail Blue, I currently have a split headcode version but was keen for a disc headcode version.  I wasn't keen on the price however but after a lot of searching I managed to get a sound one significantly cheaper than the current street price of the well know suppliers. I take on board about some of the criticism of this model but overall I am happy enough with it, i'm always prepared to forgo a bit of accuracy and detail in favor of praticality and robustness. Obviously the nose seam isn't an issue with a standard rail blue version. The most obvious improvement for me is the ability to individually turn the tail lights off, when I returned to modelling around 18 months ago I was very surprised to find that only some the very latest models had this feature, to me this should be a basic feature. Anyway overall its sounds great and think its a great model.

Ive just got this today too. Will become 40012 with plates coming from Fox transfers and the numbers, data panels and depot stickers from Railtec.

  11. Whilst i wont be getting 1 , i have noticed that Hornby are going back to using the bar and wire for the tender coupling. The latest batches of W1 and the P2 all have the new style coupling. I would’ve thought they would use the new style on 6202….  Just a thought…

Received mine and yes buffers will be replaced (as I’ve done on all my Bachmann Class 40’s) but more annoying is the fact on mine they’ve only included half discs for one side of the small yellow panel/green section - well on mine anyways 🤬

The same thing  handed with mine. 3 yellow/green (as above) and 1 green/yellow. I just ended up putting full open white discs on both ends.
