  1. Evening all, I am in the process of fitting my third or forth Hornby 08 TTS to a model and have encountered a strange issue this time whereby the F0 white wire always appears to be on, irrespective of the Controller selecting the headlight on or off. The yellow wire will only become active if the headlight is switched on and the loco is put in reverse, as it should be. However the white wire is always live (I know its the negative polarity but you know what I mean). Is there a CV setting likely to be causing this? I have checked for shorts in the wires and 8 pin socket and on the chip itself with nothing showing up. Any suggestions or ideas welcome on how to solve this or if anyone has encountered this before. Cheers Stuart
  2. I have pre-ordered one and if there are spare COLAS models in stock once they are delivered I may even get one of those as well. It's understandable that people point out all the little flaws, but all too often miss the fact that there is an overall improvement to what the market has on offer at present. Manufacturing and painting processes may make some details very difficult to replicate exactly, but it is somewhat annoying when basic moulding is the wrong size or shape. I'm sure the Mark 2 version in a couple of years will be even better!! Well done Hattons and i am very hopefully my model lives up to the expectation when it arrives!
  3. Thanks for the photos PADS. I just cant seem to get the wires bent so they look realistic. I shall just keep trying. Cheers Stuart
  4. I am currently building a number of Loco's in 7mm, most advanced is the DJH Kit K311 twin tender Flying Scotsman A3 but I also have Mallard A4 and a Class 37 and Class 40 to work on. I don't have a layout, merely a test track to check the DCC is all working, It's most about the modelling for me. I've worked in the Rail industry nearly 30 years now so do have access to some inside knowledge but mostly relating to infrastructure not rolling stock. Anyway, I like to learn and have trolled the forum scouring information for a while, I thought it was time I posted and said hello. Cheers Stuart
  5. Greeting to all, I am almost finished my first ever kit, a DJH special edition twin tender Flying Scotsman A3. Whilst not everyone's cup of tea as a loco, it's my first so I want to get it as good as i can. I am almost complete with the upper half, however there are a whole lot of intricate wires to solder on for the lubricators and around the smokebox. I am struggling to find good photos or reference material in order to allow me to replicate these. Does anyone know of a good source of photos or where i might best get hold of reference material detailing where all these pipes go? https://www.flickr.com/photos/97123575@N03/40143127915/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/97123575@N03/41036141611/in/dateposted-public/ Thanks in advance Stuart
