Great Video Andy, nice selection of stock there
-
Really like your layout, the attention to detail is superb - looking forward to seeing it at an exhibition sometime.
Cheers Chris
-
Better advertising in the magazines and less traders it looks like a swapmeet with a couple of layouts thrown in
Thanks for taking the time to reply 40F
Cheers Chris

Old - our club is a member of the association and since being part of the exhibition we have offered to have a more involved part in the show as I would like to see a good exhibition down here
However knowing how hard the two guys who organised the show worked I do find the negativity within the hobby quite shocking,
There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism and advice, however moaning helps no one. If you want a good show near home then say what was wrong and recommend what you would like to see instead.
-
And is entirely down to inadequate negotiation or understanding between organisers and local authority. I wouldn’t want to be responsible for that - but I am not inviting layout owners to exhibit in good faith, either.
I can imagine where some of those parking tickets might be shoved, and suspect the organiser has alienated some of the very clubs he is purporting to represent and support.
Old - as it seems you are determined to be negative about the whole thing may I suggest you ask before stating we were inadequate at the organisation of the show.
As a matter of fact the local council were also approached for discounted parking, which the venue assured was available, however along with everything else related to Paignton council the request was turned down.
For your information the association will look after the clubs effected by parking fines, as they do with every exhibition.
I must admit having read some of the comments I do question the point of trying to organise an exhibition.
-
Alex - I think the proscenium would benefit from dropping a few inches, as you said the boards of Upwell drove are fairly narrow.
We had some really positive feedback about your layout Alex, thanks for bringing it along to the show and hopefully you enjoyed yourself.
Now the important bit, did I convince you to change over to sound etc !
Cheers Chris
-
HSB - thanks for the comments, believe it or not it was advertised in the railway mags, Facebook, RMWeb etc but seems to have been missed so we will work on that.
Trader wise we will be more select, our main issue has been Paignton Council - not only removing our signage but the concession on car parking didn’t happen, to top it all several groups were ticketed whilst loading layouts!
-
Sorry that you guys were so disappointed with the exhibition, it’s our first time trying this in Paignton. I was opposite Wiggoforgold with my own small layout - attendance has been low. Unfortunately Paignton Council removed all of our signs as the prohibit advertising outside which we were unaware of.
To help us could I ask what you look for in a exhibition?
-
Updates to the show list of exhibitors and traders on the Wessex Website.
-
How interesting - is this the first time a show like this has been held in Paignton?
Captain - Yes it is
Just to clear up a few comments, The Wessex Association of Model Clubs is not a Club in its own right, more a support network for lots of smaller clubs to help with running and setting up exhibitions - so please do support your local clubs. I am purely adding this as a exhibitor as I would like to see you all there.
Cheers Chris

Unfortunately you are not the only one, funnily enough I had exactly the same situation a few years back - his quality of work is good but let down by everything else.
I’m not saying small claims court is a waste of time but he registered as bankrupt - in my experience he didn’t answer any letters or the bailiffs.
