thank you for the info  the EZ  is just for a tabletop for my boy to play with. i gave him a Hornby 66 with  the TTS sound decoder  and tried to  program it on that controller    guess not Eh!    I have the Elite but its not set up yet   the dcc sound bachmanns  20,66,37 run on his EZ  no problem! but they will be moving to My Elite shortly.

 I am David  and a newbie to dcc and i have a problem with a Hornby DCC R8121 sound decoder on the Hornby class 66  R3886 66405  and i  had it reprogrammed from default address 3  to 5 on a Bachmann EZ command controller (1000MA)  until it started to :  stutter and go very slow then  the sound would rev up and cut out   the go back to 1 (start up sound)  and do this all over again  most of the functions would not work either spirax valve, brake squeal etc  then it would hit the points and cut out  going back to start up function again !  even with track clips installed!     I removed the chip and ran it on a track analogue, brilliant   the loco ran normally   it works!   so is it the chip or is it the EZ command??  HELP!!   my other 66's and class 20 and 37 all work beautifully with all functions present.
