  1. Hi Charlie,

Whilst giving my ATW 150 a good looking over last night, an idea came into my head...

As the 143/144s will hopefully have 'Individually moulded seating & partition layout', how about going into the 'aftermarket' side with replacement interiors?

Ie the FGW/ATW 150's both have the Chapman type seating in 2+2 layout - whereas bachmanns ATW 150 has the original BR Type seating moulding in 3+3huh.gif formation...

And Hornbys 153's seem to have a slightly odd mix of 158 type seating with the tops of the Chapman seats...- LM/ATW operate 153s with the Chapman seatins, FGW & Northern with the Richmond type - as used in the 144s...

Not suggesting going as far as livery detail on the seats, but really just a run of better interior mouldings for various units with the correct seat style...

An idea too far or a good idea?

SEATING. We are trying not to complicate matters with the Chinese, we are already asking them for Additional roof pods & BSI couplings!

Good suggestion though but no promises! Charlie P

  2. I know we're only talking future possibilities here, but i've just uploaded some lower-res 142 detail pics to the gallery. I'll gladly supply you with full size originals if they're of any use now or in the future - either by e-mail or on a c.d.

No payment asked or required for them, just make sure i'm down for one of your 140s when you get round to it.wink.gif

On my travels I have taken loads of shots of: 141, 142, 144, 150, 153, 155, 156, 175, 180, 185, along with various EMU's. Hope this gives you clues to directions we may go, that assumes anyone buys the 144 and 143!!!

  3. Well, I was down west in Devon on satuday and took the opportunity to get some detailed livery shots of the Local Lines livery - would those be of any use to you charlie ?

Thanks for the offer but we have the First GW livery PDF's, but thanks again!

Class 140. Cannot afford the fuel to go to Dufftown!

  4. A tale told by a friend, a retired DB driver who used to work the cross-border stuff from Bw Koeln Deutz, a goods train arrived at Aachen. DB loco goes off, DB shunter goes on the back of the train to assist it out of the station as described above. DB banker gets the right away, starts shoving, thinking the Belgian isn't doing much. It's only when the train's over the top and the banker drops back that someone realises the Belgian loco was still in the yard at Aachen, and what they had was a rather heavy freight train with no loco.

It apparently came to a stand several km down the line, having see-sawed in a dip!

At Venlo, the DB would run in with pan down as the station was NS 1500v DC, and a shunter would move the DB lok to sidings, then onto the train. The departure platform towards Germany was at 16kv AC.

Venlo station was 25KV & 1500V dc split down the middle, the freight yard is the same. So all trains enter with pans down in all directions, in the old days of EM2s certain roads I think were dual voltage as I have seen DB electrics coming off the freights and running back onto the AC sections. Today this still happens, go have a look its easy to get to, excellent shots south east of the station at the level crossings. Charlie P

  5. Ice Cream.....?! Im very much one for some rasberry ripple or a magnum sometimes!

Guess the closest thing you got to with a 142 was Tyne and Wear Regional Railways! Save a blue stripe instead of red monkey blood on your yellow and white vanilla!

So if the 142 is considered and even due to go to production..... pray tell on other plans as it means I dont buy any others and instead just save for the models you'll make......

God help the wallet when they are realeased.... the recent pictures of the 144/143 look great..... cant wait for a 143 in provinical blue....

    Brilliant work your on with...

We tell no lies here, plans are afoot for various prototypes begining 14. But the 144 is our first priority followed by the similar 143, we are both in Cardiff over the next two weeks finalising the detailed differences on the 143's. Once the 143 Cad drawings are finished then work starts on DMU number 3. Whatever happens you will not see unit 3 before Christmas 2012.

We are shortly starting work on Wagon project number 2. Thanks for all the brillant support, don't forget order forms are available for the FLA Freightliner twins. Arrran & Charlie

We are working on the next wagon projest currently!

  8. Not just a 155... but a 142, 150, 153, 155, 156 and even on occasions a 158!

I think the better prospects for this unit and model is to do the class 144 and 143 at the same time. Appealing to modern moddellers with the Valley Lines and Northern and WYPTE will offer everyone that models the current scene the chance to fill that small gap in the unit roster and fleet, providing an up to date model made with the most modern manufacturing methods. Its great news to hear that this is being made, but also should be a brilliant start for this new company REALTRACK.

Whats more, backdating the model should time well with those that are modelling the 1980s, and 1990s, including those who (if the 30 year rule) is anything to go by) should be starting to return to the hobby and one of these would go down well with the Blue diesels and start of railfreight, intercity and sectorisation.

Being from where I am, I've developed a massive soft spot for the humble and much derirded Pacer unit. If the 142 was to follow Id hate to think how much saving would be needed to replace the current fleet I have, but upgrade them for the layout with the latest specs.

Should be interesting to hear the brief and design specs, after those images, to understand exactly how much detail and extras are to be placed in the unit. Hopefully someone from the company is on the forum..... but its brilliant news....

Hello, someone from the company here!

Class 144: All Wheel Drive (One Car Only) Seperate Handrails, Internal yellow handrails, Drivers cab detailing, Window Wipers, Seperatly Moulded (Removable) Roof Pod, Different light clusters to suit all era's, compromise on seating depth to allow for motor to be less obvious when looking at underfloor detailing, see through windows, quality decal & paint finish, DCC Ready, Constant DC switchable lighting, live coupling between carriages,

area in rear unpowered car for DCC installation & speakers, Bi-Directional lighting. The flushing toilet has been cancelled due to ingress of water into the dcc fitting area! We are working on making the ride of the unit as rough as possible but at the moment the slow running motor is smooth and quiet, may have to modify this to make it terrible!!!!

A detailed update of 'What you get!' will be sorted in the near future. Charlie. 'Long live the Pacer!!

    For those of you wondering!

Regional Railway & Metro Train Red & Cream will appear as and when we can along with Valley Lines etc.

(Any one who has good photos of the various Welsh Liveries we would be most gratefull. Send to customerservices@realtrackmodels.co.uk.)

We also plan to do a centre car, but not before our NEXT DMU project!!! No lusty Glaze here!

  10. Class 17 Chassis: We here at DC kits were missed out on the supply of chassis for the Class 17 even though we ordered a good quantity in writing from Heljan in Denmark. Under pressure and me having a moan we eventually got supplied complete Rail Blue Class 17's, all of which we have supplied to customers in exchange for faulty chassis, it took far longer though than we hoped, fortunatly most of our customers were understanding, but not all.
