  1. I seen one of these JHAs at the Fareham terminal this year as a end wagon, presumably Whatley had no buffer fitted box wagons so stuck the JHA hopper on the end, it then had a couple of box wagons between it and the loco providing the strange sight of a hopper wagon in the middle of a load of boxes.

  2. Are the ones on show at Warley pre-production models or production models shipped over in advance of the main shipment?

Im not overly impressed in what im seeing at the moment, not helped by the fact i can't see past those incorrect NRN pods on the roof.

My friend has an ARC one on order than i'll be having a good look at when it arrives, but at the moment im looking like giving this first batch a wide berth and seeing if Dapol do better with later releases.

However… onto the 59’s… hopefully G&W and AI liveries follow.

Lets hope they sort out the errors with the tooling before worrying about further liveries.

Has the Dapol OO class 59 been retailed yet ? Would Revolution really want to duplicate it and expect to turn a profit ?

Now the Swindon Cross Country DMU would be an entirely different prospect i am confident

Why would Dapol want to duplicate the class 59 when Hornby/Lima already make one, simple, they tried to make a better one than Hornby, Revolution could upscale theirs and it would be a better model than Dapols meaning quite simply that i would not buy the Dapol model, i would buy the Revolution model as it is more accurate, there would be no compitition.

  5. Given that Revolution are not far away from releasing their class 59 in N gauge how about upscaleing it to OO gauge as it would be better than Dapols attempt..... sorry have i already mentioned that elsewhere??????

Serious suggestion then....... Given that Revolution are not far away from releasing their class 59 in N gauge how about doing the ARC/Hanson JHA hopper wagon (in both N & OO gauge), it will go well both with the 59 and the newer HOA hopper and has carried at least 3 different liveries??

  6. So the main ares of concern (the bits they messed up)....

The exhaust sits far to high....

The NRN pods are all wrong on all models...

The chassis shape under the cabs looks nothing like the real thing...

Are people really still going to buy these with those errors??? Revolutions N scale model 59 looks to be near perfect in every way and it seems they've designed and made it in 6 weeks.... Dapol have taken what, 6 years and made these basic errors, in my eyes its really not good enough, it almost stinks of contempt towards the purchaser. This class 59 should have been on par with the Hattons class 66 which has the right shaped chassis under the cab, to the same standards as the Accurascale 37s and  forthcoming Cavalex 56 but its not!

I think what really pi$$e$ me off is that a lot of these issues were pointed out to Dapol at various stages, do they not listen to their customers, a lot of people even post reference photos, to pluck an example look at Steadfasts posts and reference photos.... he has posted enough on this page alone to show what models should have what NRNs on the roof and where and thats before you start looking at the other 43 pages on this thread!

I just feel utter disappointment looking at these Dapol 59s, ive made my decision now, i won't be buying any. I will wait to see if Dapol improve the model on any further production runs, or just hope and pray that Revolution upscale theirs.

  7. Having waited what? 6 years? For this to arrive, im a bit gutted with the basic errors that are being flagged up on it.

Makes you wonder if the other models will be accurate or if they to will have the same faults?????

One can hope that having seen the faults Revolution will upscale their class 59 to OO scale.

do you know something we dont?

I know its now September and we've not seen so much as a photo of the production examples!

Whilst LaGrange might be jumping the gun a bit by saying 'Hell just froze over'...... its certainly getting bloody cold!

They were on display at Ally Pally earlier this year… both the previous and revised EPs.

I know, i got down and looked at them, but they weren't completed production examples were they.

Given its gestation period it deserves to be perfect - But still waiting to see what a production one looks like first

Same here, i wont be ordering or parting with any cash until i can actually see what it is that im buying. The longer we go without seeing a completed production example the more synical im getting that they are going to have a major flaw, im convinced there is something Dapol dont want us to see until they are in the country and dispatched to customers.

I just dont understand why we've not seen so much as a photo of a production model.

  11. As ive said further up thread, if these are in production then i would expect a small number of each model to be flown over in advance of the main batch for publicity photos and magazine reviews etc etc

The fact we've not so much as seen a photo of a completed example that will appear on the shelves doesn't fill me with much hope.

I hope to be wrong but my money is on seeing a Revolution N scale 59 in the shops before Dapols 00 gauge version.

  12. Oh dear...... Why did i start modeling Mendip stone trains, its getting expensive.

Another great model choice that will no doubt sell well, i will no doubt be in the market for a rake of these.

I await with interest what the 'packs' will be, id like to see the end wagons sold in pairs with the middle wagons sold in larger packs.

  13. Hi, ive recently purchased 'The Pink ONE' from a friend, its got some bits that need glueing back on, namely the etched side radiator grill, now ive placed it in position but im rather nervous about going ahead with the glueing as i dont want to ruin the etch or the paintwork, anyone got any tips on how to do it that i may not have thought of?

Im thinking poor out some glue and place it and spread with the end of a pin?

    cheers

So, ive been steadily building up a rake of these wagons and all has been great up until now with all wagons (14 so far) being complete and buckeyes working fine, right up until the last three (15,16 & 17th) that have arrived with me.

All three have broken handrails, all the broken rails were in the box and i can re glue them into place with out problem, so no big deal, just that deflated feeling you get when you see it damaged coming out the box!

I won't say where they came from as my gut instinct is that they have had a rough trip being shipped to me in the "cough DPD" delivery van.

However two of them are suffering from the open buckeye issue, in both cases the springs were in the box, now ive had a read on here about how to fix them and put them back together, im willing to have a go but im worried that if my attempts fail i could loose the springs.

My question is can you buy the Dapol buckeyes seperate to replace the whole thing? Are the buckeyes listed in the link above compatible with the Dapol ones and are Kadee buckeyes compatible with the Dapol buckeyes? Id like to get a float of spare buckeyes with having to replace the whole lot on the rake.

Before anyone says about returning them, i could, but due to work commitments that would be a bit of a ball ache, so id rather go down the fix it route.

    Cheers.

  15. Ive grown up hearing all about the L&B..... ive never been but my father and uncle (both ex Southern steam men and both sadly no longer alive) both liked the railway and were both big fans of the line and the locos and generally anything steam or narrow gauge and often spoke about it.

Modern image 00 gauge is more my thing these days so after i had drooled over the Dapol 59s in the Dapol cabnet at the Ally Pally show this weekend and then admired the class 73s i worked my way up the cabnet to be greated by these absolutely beautiful L&B locos, the Southern Green one captivating my interest, it looks fantastic, and whilst not cheap, i can see myself buying one of these.

Can anyone confirm if im reading and understanding it right, these locos whilst being narrow gauge will run on standard Hornby/Peco 00 gauge track?

I was asking about a new run of 73s not knowing that they had announced a new run that day. But also asked about the 59 and was told that productions underway they are awaiting production samples atm. And hope for them to arrive in july.

Yup, pretty much what i was told, they said the class 59s were in production at the moment, they should be complete by May with two months shipping, so due July. Was good to actually get an update from the horses mouth so to speak.

The 59/1 & 59/2s looked good to me (i resisted getting down on my knees and risk getting trampled), Im not sure on the 59/0 though, the 'y' on the side did'nt look right, but we will see.

  17. When i viewed these i thought 73109 was a strange choice.... Id like a GB liveried one, but ive not long purchased 73109 in NSE, If i were Dapol i think id have chosen another example, maybe an un named one, if they have any un named ones.

They are not available as a spare from KMRC, but of course you are always welcome to visit the Guildford shop!

They are...... you just have to buy a complete 4TC as well. If i recall is there not a spare in the bag of bits?
