  1. I added a post in 'Auctions you didn't expect to win' forum but it seems appropriate here too - Roco Multimaus for £50, and there were no other bidders!

edit - hasn't arrived yet though!

  2. Houghton Regis, I grew up there, It had a cement works (now closed) & ..... er....Hattie Jaques opened the new shopping centre in 1966

    Also has a 1960s housing estate, a 1970s housing estate,a 1980s housing estate.............

You could also mention the cement works was used in the filming of 'O Lucky Man', starring Malcolm McDowell... but I'm sure you knew that!

Kimpton, also known as 'Funky Kimpton', well, by me, anyway...

oops, crossed posts... try Arundel instead, nice castle.

  3. No, its known as our "Dynamic Wheel Cleaner".

Thin strip of tissue - single ply of cheapest is best.

Spray with Iso-Propyl Alcohol, keep it damp.

That's a good idea, not come across that before. Does the tissue ever stick to the wheels? That could cause a nasty mess!

  4. Sometime later...!

After further experimentation I've found that the jerkyness can be cured by turning off the DC bit in CV29...

i.e. subtract 4 from the value in CV29 for those as don't know... jerkyness now completely cured. Strikes me as rather odd that this should make so much difference!

adding this in part as a 'bump', as a mere edit doesn't do the job...

  5. CV54=12 and CV55=60 is what Bachmann recommends (at least as a starting point) for all the smaller models, e.g. Panniers, Small Prairies, BR Std 3 and Std 4 tanks. The DCC Fitted versions I have are pre-set to those values.

I had a similar issue with a recently purchased Bachmann 3F and found that the loco performs best with back EMF turned off altogether... will go at a smooth crawl no probs, and quiet too. With back EMF on (any settings) it becomes noisy and jerky.

Just my experience with one particular loco but may be of use to someone.

  6. A reference was made earlier in this thread to the P4Me coupling. I use this simplified AJ-type coupling on my Inglenook and would not hesitate to use it more widely. Made with .010 steel wire and cut-down panel pins, it's very cheap, easy to mount and very reliable, operated by electromagnet. The only proviso is that it would not work too well on standard 00 as there is too much slop. My Inglenook is 00 finescale (whatever that is!)Would work equally well on 00-SF, EM and obviously P4/S4.
