  1. Running issues sorted.
  2. Motor change, new connector (thought I might have damaged it getting it out) and getting rid of the capacitor has fixed the problem. The slow speed running is just how I wanted it to be and it’s also quieter. The flywheel has also added a little weight where it is needed.
  3. Could I use the booster just for points and signals?
  4. Changing the motor has improved slow speed running 100%
  5. Got her stripped ready to change motor and plug to tender. The motor definitely feels ‘notchy’ when compared with the new one.
  6. Just to show she does run
  7. Thank you all for suggestions and help! You know your stuff and I’m keen to learn.
  8. At the moment I don’t have a spare decoder, just ordered a non sound one to try and have as a back up. Going to remove the capacitor in the tender and take the body off tomorrow and have a good look at what’s going on. It does make quite a racket at very slow speed and judders, it has now run for a few hours and things are still the same, stopping dead at times when pulling away. Other times she will run fine and if I hold her in position she wants to go. For £6 I think it’s worth changing the motor anyway.

    D16 help

I’ve tried the search function on here but nothing comes up for ‘D16’ but I’ve seen answers posted on Google. Anyway, got a new weathered D16 from eBay but it’s got problems. It takes me ages to get it to run, initially it will run an inch or two then just stop, does it in reverse as well, I keep trying and the intervals between stops get longer, it just lurches to a holt, eventually it will keep on going. Throughout all this the sounds never cut out. Wheels and pickups are clean and have been cleaned by me. I suspect a faulty motor and have ordered a replacement (a K1 for £6), would this be a symptom of a faulty motor?
