  1. Man to appear in court over first Tram-Train collision (update from British Trams Online) http://www.britishtramsonline.co.uk/news/?p=25403
  2. It seems that the 204/202 tram is now running on test as per this link https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10157005402544571&set=gm.2188508391365114&type=3&theater&ifg=1
  3. The SYConnect+ day ticket costs £8.20 and covers bus tram and train in the South Yorkshire area. For a return train ticket Rotherham to Sheffield the cost is £4.20 anytime or £3.50 off peak.( note 2 singles are more expensive) The tram only day rider is £4.00. So for using multiple method of transport the SYConnect + is god value but for a single return journey it is more expensive.
  4. This seems to be the new standard announcement. ie. This is the yellow route service to 'the stop it's already at'. It's even funnier when it says " this is the yellow route service to hold tight please".
  5. Here is a link to the Network Rail guide to Overhead Electrification. http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/sites/default/files/sitedocuments/Planning-and-Building-Control/Planning/nr_a_guide_to_overhead_electrification.pdf I assume that when/if the main line through Rotherham is electrified the section from Meadowhall to Parkgate will be permanently at 25Kv. The tram-trains are designed to switch to 25Kv and there will be a neutral section at the change in the overhead line at the new Meadowhall cord. This is to allow the tram-trains to switch between voltages. This type of switching has been used before as the early West Coast electrification had some stations powered at 6250V AC due to low clearances. I believe that E3001 and E3002 caught fire due to slow switching of the changeover equipment.
