  1. Thanks Chris, The track wasn't too difficult to dig up- it was chipping away at the ballast that took a little bit of time. Jamie
  2. Thanks for the info, Chris. I agree that I think members have changed their minds about the layout track plan over the years. I think the main reason for doing the change was so that we could have a branch train come out of platform 2 and then reverse into the bay platform without having to go into the fiddle yard. The crossover in the goods yard near the goods shed was also added to facilitate shunting movements that we found were needed at the Ely show. Jamie
  3. Well despite there not being a post here for 5 months, we have actually been doing some work! We found that there are two crossovers that for some reason the builder of the layout missed out. So myself and another club member have been adding them in. The mug, bucket and cable reels are there to weight the points down as the glue dries. Other members been doing lots of other little jobs around the layout. The stationmaster’s gardens have been made and planted and a ploughed field is taking shape. Fences have appeared on the boundary between railway and farmers’ land. While we had the boards up to fit the new crossovers (we had turned them on their sides to make working on them easier) we’ve also sorted out some wiring gremlins but there’s still one or two issues. Jamie
  4. I love the angle of the first photo of Wild Swan. Maybe if you photoshopped the back scene out and added a sky in and cropped the photo a bit, it might look better? Something like this perhaps HTH, Jamie

It's a shame they couldn't modify the smokebox door to include an actual number plate and shed plate, rather than just printing them on.

Are you sure? Photo credit Ken Nunn collection This is Papyrus in 1935. 94HP boiler and 1928 corridor tender. There's more specific detail here: http://brdatabase.info/locoqry.php?action=locodata&type=S&id=600103060&loco=2750 Jamie
  7. I’m surprised that the King and the K1 are still there.
  8. Happy birthday Tony, Like many, I've learnt a lot from you. It was the Right-Track DVDs on loco building that got me hooked on serious model-making. Regards, Jamie
  9. The 9F took its first service train by itself today instead of 29 and 65894. The loco roster seems to have gone to pot as someone on Facebook said that 2253 failed yesterday so I think 62005 has taken its place and 76079 has taken 62005's place.
  10. Were you at the gala yesterday evening? I saw someone who looked like you but wasn’t sure
  11. Looks like Repton failed as the 4MT seemed to be doing the Whitby shuttlesThe 9F made another appearance
  12. There have certainly been some good departures this morning. I assume it’s very cold oop north today.
  13. The Hall sounded magnificent pounding up the bank. There was certainly no shortage of power on this train And at Grosmont And a full house at Grosmont with 80136 and 1264 hiding in the background
  14. The safety valves lifted twice- nearly deafened me!
  15. Love ain't for keeping - The Who
  16. Thanks Jonathan, In that case then my model's wrong for the period that I'm modelling but I can live with it. What number will yours be? Jamie
  17. Ah right. In Sir’s article it gives a list of engines that towed the tender provided in the kit but it only gives the BR numbers. I worked from 3 photos for 3591 and all of them showed an asymmetrical wheelbase tender. I borrowed the green bible volume from a club member but I don’t remember it giving much detail on tender allocations. Jamie
  18. I thought ten J6s towed the asymmetrical wheelbase tender? If they didn't then my engine is wrong but I'm not sure if I can be bothered to change it. Jamie
  19. In the week I finally finished off my D&S NBR horsebox. Jamie
  20. I've finally finished the NBR dia 110 horsebox Tony gave me. Sorry for the strange location of the pictures (and the finger in the last one). I was trying to get the model in the sun and it was late afternoon. Regards, Jamie
  21. K1 62005 will be arriving at Grosmont this evening: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U10870/2019/09/16/advanced
  22. Have some GWR mk3s but don’t model the south west? Well you can just stick em in a siding like at Ely.
