  1. I’ve followed the above advice from you all, and success in doing the waltz.

But I need to ask Nigel about his use of the electromagnet (watched his video) he used.

What volts would it be and did you connect directly to the decoder or via a ‘buck converter’, resistors etc? You can gather I’m not too good with electronics.

i have tried a 5 volt electromagnet but my decoder (zimo 645) now reads ‘error 2’ and reset!

Any advice would most definitely be much appreciated,

    thanks

    Hi Steph, Hal and Paul

Once we had received the decorated samples this issue of the side to end fitting was obvious in particular the lining of the maroon version, so we have corrected the tools for all bodyshells which has taken a while and delayed production, but we hope you appreciate the wait, as we want to produce the best MK1 series of coaches available. We expect new decorated samples soon and I will post pictures once received. Please see attached picture showing the raw plastic full length side including the small end curve which will also be painted in relevant colour and lining if present.

I too agree that the sides look so much better and improved. If these are to be released sooner rather that latter I will also place an order for maroon also blood and custard coaches

  3. 1. Irdot-1 are not affected by lightning in an exhibition hall, well at least not on mine when at shows.

    2. I use Heathcote and Blocksignaling both work well. Blocksignaling has different settings so easily adjusted.

    3. Yes you can see where they are fitted into the track. Megapoints is another possibility, this relies on track occupancy

    Afternoon all,

We have now received the first engineering prototype for the Class A3 and we're sure you'll agree that it looks absolutely stunning.

The A3 is shaping up very nicely and we're very happy with how the model is looking so far. Once our checks are complete, the project will progress onto the livery sample stage. The first EP for the Class A4 should be with us before too long as well.

I've included a few images for your perusal below. Please feel free to give us your feedback and thoughts on the progress so far.

All versions of the A3 are still available to pre-order on THIS page of our website.

    Cheers,

Dave,  looking great.  comment, will the tender "coal" be removable, (i think it gives the appearance of being 'toy' like)

Brilliant, I've copied those CV's into my Class 15 and it's great to be able to show the differing head codes, something I know I would never have been able to achieve myself, there are just great.. The amount of unused capability of these decoders is amazing.

    Thank you

  6. Probably won't save anything buying from the USA. Cheapest versions are the 21 pin ones at around $63, the others are more. Add shipping and VAT and potential hassles if you need to replace it then it is not worth it.

ESU and Zimo with UK sounds pretty much require purchasing from a UK source which gets expensive for us in the USA. I have the ESU programmer but the selection of free sounds on their website is very limited.

    Alan

I tried using a ESU sound Decorder, bought in Canada, then tried to down load one of the free UK selection sounds only to discover that the North America ESU decoder will not allow uk sounds to be downloaded!

    Nigel,

Although the real locos were fitted with tail lamps, during the 'green diesel' period BR rules requires a separately fitted oil lamp, hence the lamp irons. The electric tail lamps were not used in service so a decision was made to leave the tail lamps as non-working yet otherwise accurate depictions of those that were supplied with the real locos.

If you wish to have operating tail lamps, you will need to add LEDs and the necessary wiring. You will also require another decoder since you will need at least 2 additional Function Outputs for independant directional control, as the current 4 individually controlled white markers at each plus the cab light use up all of the 9 Function Outputs of the ZIMO MX645P22 decoder under the MOROP 'norm' NEM 658.

    Kind regards,

    Paul

    Paul,

    Thank you for your reply.

I guess I've learnt something, as I did not know or realize that the early diesels used seperatly fitted tail oil lamps.

Also a great deal to learn about DCC,!

    Regards

  8. Have been enjoying my loco for a number of weeks now, and like others on here, find everything about it just superb, (other manufacturers should take note), one thing - I have not been able to get to work are the red/ rear tail lights to work ( supplied with a DCC chip) can some one advise what I need to do!

    Thanks

    Nigel

  9. I am installing a ESU loksound L V 4.0 sound decoder into my Heljan class 40, o gauge, ok so all the wiring is either red or black, this I can work out, but when it comes to the head/tail lighting boards I need some help, advice or even photos. Should the lighting boards be replaced, ie LED's, or can it be modified to show the individual lighting that is used for the head and tail codes?

Thanks in advance if someone has the answers

  10. Have just downloaded the 1.8 update, released today from iTunes and it looks good, just in time for use at the Edmonton railway show this weekend. Report back on Monday!

    Nigel

Well, the railway show was good, 1st time I had exhibited there. Used updated paid1.8 touchcab with iPad and iPhone (free version)on a Lenz 3.6, switched on and connected, no problem with the iPad , but experienced some movement of the speed graph, moving up and down!!, thought it could have been something to do with the loco,( had dirty pickups).

Tried to configure loco list onto the iPhone from the iPad, but failed to achieve this?

Locos in use list is good, easy to pick from main list too.

Discovered that it is SO EASY to double head, just a couple of taps, just great.

Switches are easy to control as well as crossing gates..... Must learn to open gates to allow trains to pass and not pass though!

Jens I am we'll impressed ( as where the viewing public.....what?you are controlling the trains with an iPad!)

Thanks for such a great product, and look forward to whatever you have in the pipeline......

    Hi Dave,

A good suggestion and I have used enamel wire in th past and I do have some in stock. I always had trouble soldering it and pulling it through metal structures invariably scratched it leading to annoying short circuits. As a lot of my signals have spent their lives outside the weather was affecting the wire and joints too so I switched over to fine sheathed wire. As you suggested it doesn't look as neat but its much more reliable.

    cheers

    JF

    Hi Jon,

What great work you do and thanks for sharing it with us, I, and I'm sure everyone learns such a lot from your postings.

Seeing that you are using small LEDs you may what to browse www.negneering.com
