Thanks for that information. Came onto Macs after many PC problems in 2009, some of which were probably of my own making as I believe in backups.
Please can you tell me what the equivalent Apple programmes are. Many thanks, cheers, Peter

Thank you both for the imnformation - 23 hours is not a late response especially since this computer has been inspirational for a few hours. Will look up sometime this week. Again, many thanks, cheers,
Peter
Edit = for inspirational read inoperable!
New edit - Now read your post on the NHS - in which I spent 35 years - glad you were given a clean bill of health.

Looked up Pages, Numbers Keynotes - none will download on either current iMac - too old - checked and they are 2009 and 2011 - so also have no trade-in value but can be 'usefully' recycled. Certified Refurbished Products on laptops - with current situation easier to take with me that the desktop- did not have any real advantage price-wise to new.
13.3" MacAir seems best bet although a much smaller screen than I am used to but the 16" Pro seems a tad expensive when Apple's 'useful' life seems to be so short. I do need Word/Pages Excel/Numbers PowerPoint/Keynote. On a new machine they, PN&K, come free but most of the information that I produce has to be read on PCs by club members. Past history I also used Access and Publishing although not much use on the latter because none of my students or peers had it. Potentially then I need a new computer - laptop - but will still need Office for Mac although the prospect of working on the Mac equivalents first has some kudos.
Thanks for the guidance, cheers, Peter
