I can confirm that these come without a plastic coal load. Plastic coal loads are a pet hate of mine, so I see it as a bonus that they did not bother fitting one.
Hopefully others will be able to help on the prototype questions.
Cheers, Ade.

Thanks. Glad it was of interest.
I will try your suggestion.
We get a few Railway related items through work.

A little update.
Photos to come: weathered my first loco, the Dapol/ex-Lionheart 64xx pannier, last night. I used weathering powders and a brush. I have gone for a fairly subtle look, with just a bit of general soot, grime and dust all over just to take the shine off the loco. I will need daylight to take the pics. Flash photo does not really show it.
Cheers, Ade.

Tower Models have kindly sent me the missing numberplate today.
I gave the loco a little run on the club layout and it ran well straight out of the box. I need to get it fully ran in now and then I will get it chipped.
Cheers, Ade.

I am looking forwards to this one too. The GWR version ran on the line that I am modelling.

The track on baseboard no1 is now laid down on the cork underlay (the cat let me finish ) and the droppers installed. The Peco points have been modified with wiring for DCC and the wheel drop inserts fitted.
Yesterday four of us from our club, Andy P, John and Peter had a run out to Stafford show. A nice day out. Picked up two Skytrex GWR Rail built Cattle Docks. A bit fiddly, but started build these up last night.
On the rolling stock front, I have now purchased a Dapol (ex Lionheart) 64xx pannier tank from Rails as these were on offer and last week picked up my 43xx Mogul from Tower Models at the Bristol show. Fitted real coal to both of these.
The layout to now going to be housed (at my wife's suggestion!) in a new purpose built shed in the garden.
Cheers, Ade.

I was told this was a sample and they had a few more tweaks to do before final production.
Cheers, Ade.

Fitted mine which I bought yesterday. Just the job.

They had a couple of these on display yesterday at Bristol show. I asked when they would finally hit the shops and was told they should be out by Easter.
Cheers, Ade.

Saw these yesterday at Bristol. They are really nice. They are worth the wait.

Having see the diorama in person today, I can say that the photos don't do it justice.
Nice to meet you Steve.

Picked mine up today. Not run it yet. Hopefully will try it at the club on Tuesday night.
One slight problem is one of the number plates is missing and one loose buffer (which was an easy fix).
Cheers, Ade.

I am going to buy this controller having being round to Andy's and seeing how easy it is to operate.

Truly outstanding. Just showed my wife the pics and she thought it was a real wagon.

Ade's 7mm layout: Malmesbury station
in 7mm+ modelling
Posted
Just got home from a weekend away in Malmesbury so I could see the site of the former station in person. Took some detailed pics of the old engine shed stonework etc. I especially wanted to see how high the embankment was which runs behind the engine shed. My Volvo stands roughly where the Pannier tank once ran.
