Well I received mine yesterday, was waiting for me when I got back from work. Been run in on rollers, 30 minutes forward and back.
Yes it wobbles.
Yes there were glue marks (managed to chip the worst of the larger clumps off)
Yes there were a few bent or broken bits, glued those back on. (The small part to the left of the smokebox door seems to be reliably broken on every example I've seen photographed, including mine!)
But despite all that, I love this model. It capture the look and feel of the real one nicely. Nice n weighty for a tank engine, livery's nicely applied and the level of detail is frankly amazing. 1501 was waiting at Kidderminster on the first day I started volunteering after college, so I have fond memories of the sole survivor. Glad to have her join my fleet of preserved models, finally.

What about the ultimate Hall and Modified Hall? Loads of variations, seems right up Accurascale's street. But then there is the Saint and Hawksworth County, must stop dreaming!
If I had to pick I'd much rather they made the Saint or County over redoing the Halls. Tornado got models produced of it when it was built and the new P2's not even close to steaming, yet it has it's own model. Kind of a slap in the face to the volunteers who brought to life 2999 and it not be represented in 00, at least in my opinion.

No. The Counties had fat cabs and ran only with a dedicated set of fat tenders.
Damn. So unless they want to come out with a loco already produced by another manufacturer to a reasonable standard, Collett tenders are a no no... Still, didn't stop em making the Deltic or the 50, so an Accurascale Castle or King might at least keep that dream alive for my 2017 spec 7802.

Is there any chance of a second run of Accurascale Manors, as I though I'd ordered one, but apparently I didn't. Maybe some different names/numbers?
I was thinking of something similar but not quite. Bear with me on this... 7802 ran with a Collett 4000gal tender at one point in preservation. Any chance we could get that one? Could also open the gates for other GWR loco's that have the same tender.
Did the Hawksworth Counties ever run with those?

Managed to find 1501 in stock at Antics (didn't know they were still around) and have now got it on order. Not at all dissuaded by the prospect of potentially getting a dud, I just wanted another loco from the SVR fleet. This will be my fifth alongside 5764, 7714, 7802 and 7012

I presume these should be landing imminently. Just logged onto the website to check (had to reset my password btw) and noticed my order is still "processing". Is anyone's else still at this status or should I get in touch.
My preorder was labelled as failed when I checked it a few weeks ago. After messaging them on Facebook I got an email updating my order to complete. Might be worth contacting them to see what's up.

Interesting. Which one? All mine seem structurally OK so far, though I've lost a few bogies.
John
35025 Brocklebank Line. Was sad to see it fall apart as it was my first MN. Like with yours the front bogie disintegrated but mine also had the piston rods snap, the chassis around the front bogie snap and the axle slots expanded. Saved the body though...

Apologies I brought that up as a joke - sorry if it was bad taste. I agree it should be a very strong loco.
Think we've all been stung by Mazak Rot in the past so just mentioning it gives us all flashbacks Lost one of the older Hornby MN's that way, just crumbled away.

The cynic in me worries about mazak rot. Being more serious My Bachmann versions will shift 80 4wheel wagons, Looks like these will pull house down!
Have any of the Dublo models started showing any signs of zinc pest yet? I know they're relatively new but if they're holding their own then I wouldn't be too worried about it. As long as the Mech and Motor are good we could be in for a really strong loco!

Hold on a minute, have I read that right?! The Hornby 9F's have diecast bodies? Suddenly the price doesnt seem all that bad Ok it's still bad, but still!

I just visited The Engine Shed, via Hornby's website (only one more click than a link, and reliable). The 9F does look fabulous and, for anybody buying one for the first time, or for the display cabinet is a no-brainer despite the recent price-hike. A Tyne Dock one might tempt me as a cabinet queen, but only if there are no personal "must haves" announced on Monday.
Despite the increase in cost I still have my fingers crossed for a double chimney, BR1G tender in late crest black. If they happen to announce 92203 at any point there will be no hesitation, as much as it'll sting the wallet

LNER Coronation stock would be lovely, if not for the fact I've been cutting up triang thompsons to make my own since the pandemic started...

I told myself I wouldn't do it, I said I'd try to cut back. But it appears 7812 will be joining the fleet in the future. Can't complain, it looks stunning!

For anyone struggling to decide which version to bash, you've got a fair few to choose from in this lot if you're quick.

The Bill and Ben chassis is essentially the same as the Toby chassis. There are four axle slots. If I remember rightly 1,2,and 4 are used for Toby and 1 and 3 for the twins. It's a nice heavy lump of metal, but the horizontally mounted motor (and the unneccesarilly chunky mountings) are far too big for most locos. It wouldn't really be viable for anything other than a large side tank if the model was to be anywhere near scale.
Did not know that about the Toby chassis, very interesting. Shame about the height of the thing, but I wonder how it performed with the extra weight and gearing.

I believe Bill and Ben have the same mechanism as the others
Just managed to find an image off Google of the Bill/Ben chassis, side by side with a Smokey Joe chassis. It is very slightly different... Wonder why this hasn't been adopted in more models.

Don't forget the little diesels like this 06.
Don't you worry, they haven't been forgotten. Not sure what the plan is on whether or not we'll be allowed to use them in the competition that is being mulled over.
Question is though, is this one that you'd be willing to have a bash at modifying? If you'll pardon the pun...

I agree.
There are five (right?) locomotives that use this chassis in its two variants: The Holden 101, the Caledonian pug, the two inside-cylinder steam engines and the diesel. Allowing all 5 would make sense.
I think there may actually be a couple more than that. Holden 101, Caley Pug, Class D, The Shorty Thomas, Bagnall Diesel, Class 06, of course the Hornby Percy also uses the same chassis, (Bill and Ben I've heard have different mechanisms) doubt that should be counted though.
To my knowledge I think that's it. Quite the variety to choose from and typically pretty cheap depending on where you look.

If we use all of them now, where do we go after that?
Easy answer to that. If it's done again you could either get an identical variant for next time or try one of the others. All depends on what your mind cooks up at the time and how much money you have at your disposal. Wouldn't want to discourage anyone if they can find an example within their price range

Just had a look at Hatton's, several Smokey Joe type between £20 and £30 and one Holden as cheap as £17.
Exactly why I picked up a Holden instead of the Caley. Got it for £15 including the postage as opposed to £25-£30 with postage for a Smokey Joe variant.
I feel like allowing both versions would mean more could enter. I certainly didn't have that much spare cash to hand...

I can't help myself, I'm going through ebay and I wont stop until I've bought another pug. Hope you're happy now
Feels strange quoting myself but... That didn't take long. Found a particularly grubby Holden which if needs be can be bashed with a Caley.
