Well I never expected so much froth over time...

Maybe its a range of radio signal NSE style station clocks with a sound fitted option for the clunk as the flaps roll over. Of course as it all rolls back at midnight it will wake everyone in the house up!

Youve given me an idea…. My station has a 21 pin socket fitted underneath…. HA

Where diesel locos have a load bank to test them out on after overhaul, is there an equivalent for electric locos or do they tend to just get hooked up to a test train after initial light engine movements as a test?

Diesel locos are load banked by removing the traction motor cables and instead wiring the traction output to a load bank which is pretty much a huge resistor bank and fans, i see no reason you couldnt do this with a 92 as long as the equipment could handle the huge power output

Both locos will have the same file, I agree it would be good to have two different files however not really commercially viable at this point. It may be possible to tweak the CV settings to get them out of sync but we would have to look into that.

Yeah you can do this, you can raise/lower the sound speed of the sound slot for the engine, i do it on 20’s and it makes a big difference.

I only change them by like 2% or whatever but its enough to not make it sound odd but allow it to go out of sync to the other.

  4. Its just the Z21 app,  there is a setting i think called steering setting, if theyd set it to normal then it wouldnt cause the throttle slider to spam about.

its a good app but i hate it for controlling trains, you wanna be looking at the train not where your finger is tapping so it ends up in crashes.  Its good for setting routes/signals though!

  5. And thirdly, the 378 project has progressed a lot.
went for the newer livery as i like the more sleek look to it.

absolute pain to paint this, but its worth it.

just waiting on Charlie to design the chassis for them now as im itching to use it!

  6. Next up i by chance nabbed a pair of 325 DMs for something to do.

painted them and liked them so much that i bought the trailer/motor car to match

ive got to put the pantograph on there, weather/glaze and then sort a motor out.

will likely use Bachmann 158 parts.

There is absolutely no traction motor sounds on this sound file, and that appears to be the issue with all the current files.

There is a great TrainSim file for the CEP with some fantastic sounds. Once you have listened to the unit accelerating, you will realise how poor the DCC files are.

Sounds mega that! Wow! Theyve gone a bit mad on it eh.

could easily be put on a decoder but i dont think they would be very happy lol. Could be worth you asking them, never know.

How are the new tooling Bachmann sound files rated? Compared to other sources for example. I know that the 'old' class 20 factory sound was poor but assuming new one is an improved SWD version.

Are the 20/0 and 20/3 sound versions significantly different. Would appreciate some thoughts on this.

No such thing as a good class 20 sound file in my opinion haha.

all of them are flawed somehow

  9. Had a play with one recently, aside from an iffy pan looks a nice model.

the sound irks me though, the converters ect shouldnt start up every time you start moving and stop when you come to a stand, they should be running constantly while the loco is powered up.

There also dont seem to be any rheostatic braking fan sounds which should coincide with the loco braking unless ive missed that, aswell as the frequency changes of the traction system when pulling away.

wonder if this will be updated in future.

awfully tempted to order 92010 and renumber to 23 anyhow, just hope there will be a re-release of the coaches as the ebay prices are just silly!

     I wish!

The KLL4s are ancient history.  They were steadily replaced as much as they could be because of their problems.  But I travelled on the 1938 tube stock so often that the sound remains in my head!  The nearest modern facsimilie I can think of would be a battery powered drill: but it still wouldn't  be right: right tempo but too harsh.

Anyway, glad you have got the sound of the line breakers included.  That was truly part of their sound "signature".

    Regards, Teeinox

I will ask about and see if anybody has any footage of one while the compressor is whirring away but i doubt it! Ha.

if you find something similar, can always modify the tempo/pitch to suit i guess.

    cheers though!

Something I noticed with the battery cars was that (due to more weight?) they clanked more than normal tube stock when crossing the joints in the track.

(Several times in tube stations waiting for the last service train of the day!)

    Wouldnt suprise me!

they also seem to grind/vibrate a bit when moving off, though not something i can really replicate although the Tenshodo motors seem to try to! Ha
