  1. Amish family spend a day in the big city. They visit a department store and the father and son wander off.

They become transfixed by this strange device. There are two silver doors in the wall, they swish open revealing a brightly lit metal cube. An ancient old crone shuffles in and the doors close behind her. There's a bit of clanking and whirring and above the doors a sequence of numbers light up in ascending order. They stop, then numbers light in descending order and the doors slide back. Out steps a curvaceous, pouting, 20 year old blonde.

Without taking his eyes off her the father say's, "Quick Isaac, Go get your Mother"

Heard it before (in post 602 on this page!)

The problem with a long thread like this one is that jokes are sometimes inadvertently re-posted by other members. This one was last seen on 17.01.2011; post # 297. When I want to post a joke, I put a suitable keyword from it into the "search this forum" box at the top right of the page to check on previous usage.

    I don't get it.....

  4. I have 2 Heljan 26s which I first chipped with the later 8 pin Hornby decoders. Both locos struggled to start, with noises and grumblings, and performance was poor. Changed to Lenz standard, and the difference was immediate and remarkable, and they are now among the smoothest and most reliable locos I own.

  5. Hi Jinty3f,

I have just finished fitting leds to a 47, I found it meant hacking the front of the chassis to make the room.

Pictures will hopefully make this clearer.

Thanks for the pics - I reckon it needs a bit of courage to take a knife to a brand new loco! I will check out the 26 and see if I am brave enough.

  6. Hi Bob,

Can you not convert the lighting to LED's which would last longer.

    John

I bought 2 Heljan 26s and find that the lights are very (maybe prototypically?) dim, even after tinkering with the CVs on a Lenz standard. Is it a simple enough job to replace the bulbs with LEDs? I like to see the lights a bit brighter!
