  1. A similar thing happened to me when I took my new Bachman pannier tank to a model railway club that used a Duette on their DC line, it shot off at warp speed and was uncontrollable. I was concerned that it might have been damaged but back home with my Gaugemaster it was fine again.
  2. I think the controller could be the culprit, in my experience new locos don’t always like older controllers and I had to upgrade my controller, the improvement in running was marked.
  3. I’m amused by the amount of time spent reviewing the box and packaging in quite a few YouTube reviews and usually zoom straight past that bit.
  4. Regarding the guarantee for these models, Rails have replied to my query and stated (as I suspected) that as the locos are being manufactured by Dapol they will be covered by Dapol’s standard guarantee.
  5. I’ve asked Rails about their Terrier but I suspect that everyone is busy at Ally Pally this weekend so it will be a couple of days before they reply.
  6. There has been some discussion on Facebook about the two new Terriers with one person posing an interesting question, which loco would be better in terms of guarantee and long term spares availability? I expect that Hornby will be building theirs for years whereas the Rails/Dapol version might be a limited run. I couldn’t see anything on the Rails website about a guarantee. I’m not unduly worried about it myself as I have found that most of my N gauge Dapol locos have been very good if looked after properly.
