  1. Hi Mick

I have asked Hattons Dave but haven’t yet received a reply.

Really my point is that, surely, Hattons could make this a  special model and gain support from its customers for the charity concerned - in the same way that the ‘Railway Honour’ project did.

  2. The Dapol Model of 66418 ‘Patriot’ was made with the agreement of Freightliner under the ‘Railway Honour’ Project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armistice.  The locos were distributed by Revolution Trains and a contribution from each sale made to army charities It seems a shame that this does not apply to the OO models.

  3. Hattons Dave - can you answer my question?  I, for one, would like our armed forces to benefit from any sales of the loco.

Will Hattons be paying a contribution to army charities on each sale of 66418?  If I remember correctly this was the case for the Dapol N gauge model.

  4. No doubt this will have been covered before.  However, my trusty old compressor (25 years old) has failed and I need a new one.

I have looked at the various airbrush companies and can see various models.  I would be very grateful for any recommendations from fellow modellers.  I would like a compressor with a reservoir.

    Many thanks in anticipation,

    Andrew

  5. Bachmann’s Ts and Cs are pretty clear.  What is the point of entering into a contract and then breaching it?  Hattons have breached a contract term and so Bachmann are well within their rights to cease supply.

Those talking about EU and competition law don’t really understand that this is a simple case of a breach of a contract term.  There has to be a consequence to such a breach otherwise what is the point of a contract?

Surely a presumption as opposed to fact?  Conversely I have sold all of my Bachmann 66s...  and by stating that I'm not suggesting that the majority will do the same, just that there will be modellers who fall into either camp.

As a previous manager of a major Model Railway shop, I would respectfully suggest that my view is not so presumption.

At current prices and comparison of specification, I would suspect that future sales of higher spec (ie. not Hornby Railroad)  66s would mostly go to the Hattons model thus sustaining it for the future and undermining sales of the Barwell product.

However, the Bachy 66s have been around for some time and I, for one, have loads of them.  I will not replace them with Hattons models.  If people want a cheap 66 then the Hornby one will suffice.  In a nutshell, there will not be significant demand.

I think that Hattons will end up with loads of stock and egg on their face, I’m afraid.

I also believe that Hattons, in supplying wholesale, knew what they were doing and were daring Bachmann not to supply.

Good for Bachmann in sticking to their terms of trade.

  8. Has anyone a photo of the Bachy IC MK 2f next to the Hornby version.  I have a number of Bachmann versions and am wondering about buying the Hornby ones, given the lower price.  I would want to run them together.  I am less concerned about the lower grey as I weather my stock.

    Thanks in anticipation.

Looks to me like that 'oops' that afflicts us in magazine publishing from time to time - someone worked into an old document on the computer and changed the picture and the text but not the heading. Then, when the proof gets read, the proof-reader misses it, simply because its big. We have a saying, "the bigger the type, the bigger the c--k up" (CJL)

I reckon that this makes the models more collectible and valuable.  My dad collected stamps and those rare ones with flaws achieved high valuations.

So so if you want an exclusive with a rare certificate, buy one now!

(Chris T isn’t giving me commission, by the way!)
