I'll have a look on the rest of the Boxfile layouts section in order to get some inspiration. I'll let you know on updates. Keep an eye out for them.
cheers, James

With the headboards, shoebox and controller sorted, I definitely need to think of a trackplan for the layout. I am going to spend a long time thinking of what to do.
-
Now I have just got to wait for it to dry!
-
There are headboards from different regions of BR and different time periods. I have GWR headboards, London midland region headboards, the NRM York headboard (I have 09017 (NRM shunter) so I couldn't resist!) and others.
-
Last year, I printed out some locomotive headboards and used them when running trains on my large OO layout. I've stuck them down onto card using PVA and hopefully, they won't get creased and I won't have to throw them away. (That's happened to three).

I will have to do a bit of soldering in order to use the black and red controller and it may take a while. Therefore, I've decided to use the other one which, has the plug needed to connect it to the track. I know it's not good at running older locomotives (Wrenn, Tri-ang, Lima etc) but it will have to do for now until I can sort the other one out.

Anyway, back to the layout.
I have two analogue controllers that I could use to control run trains with.
One is R966, which is the original controller in modern Hornby train sets.
The the other is the new Hornby controller which now comes in every analogue train set.

I've sorted out the shoebox by putting a strip of card on the end so that rolling stock won't fall out while in transit.

I have just come across an old shoebox with a end missing. I used it as a previous attempt to make a shoebox layout. I can sort this out in a jiffy.

The other three are people in coaches.
The first pic is a Hornby Stanier (I think) coach in Crimson and cream.
the second pic is also a MK1 but made by Tri-Ang. I presume the livery is Crimson and cream but darker. It doesn't look like the Western Region's Chocolate and cream coach livery but I could be wrong...
The third and last pic is a Hornby MK2 in Intercity Blue and Grey. I have two of these coaches plus a brake.
I have got to put people in the other two Mk2s but I'll leave it to one side for now...

I have been busy putting people into coaches. It's taken me a while to get 3 of them done. I've previously used blutack to stick them down and it hasn't let me down since.
Got some photos of people in coaches for you all to see.

I've decided to put the handle that I cut out earlier back in again. All I need is some masking tape!

Last time I went there, I brought two black, weathered, coal filled wagons, a Oxford diecast 1960s police car and a Hornby Railroad model of 09017 in NRM maroon.

Good luck with trying to build a layout using that...
-
Looking good so far! I look forward to seeing your progress.

I've stuck on the sides with masking tape. It's only temporary and I'll know what it'll look like when it's finished. In the meantime, I'm thinking of a new trackplan...

I'm not sure if anyone is aware, But there's a a model shop in Bridlington called Croppers models. Their address is 17 Lansdowne Road YO15 2QU. It is a family business and they sell model railways (in OO and N), Scalextric, Airfix and Revell kits and more. I've visited them several times and the variety of stock they have is brilliant. There are signs directing you to the shop on the street that it is on.

Young children like model railways. You should have seen the amount of kids at the Invercally layout at the York show yesterday!

Sorry I haven't added any updates to the layout recently. I was out at the York model railway show yesterday helping David Harrison run his Invercally layout.

Thanks for your help of helping me decide on a name. After a lot of thought, I've chosen the name Draxton. As there is a power station on the back-scene of the layout which looks like Drax And I didn't want a long name.

OO gauge micro layout on a shoebox

Good news! The trackplan has finally been sorted!
After looking at Boxfile layouts, sketching trackplans, lots of slotting bits of track together, a load of head scratching, and banging my head against the wall, I am finally happy with the results.
There are three sidings on the layout and they have enough room for 2 coal wagons and a 0-6-0ST. You may have probably noticed that I've lowered the handle again. This is so I've got enough room in the fiddle yard.
