47705 Lothian , never had Large Logo livery . Only 47711/712 . So You are a bit restricted I'm afraid

That sounds about right since I couldn't find any photos of 705, below from the CL47.co.uk site which sent me on the search for 705.

  2. Re Large Logo 47711 Greyfriars Bobby.

Was thinking of a renumber and according to the great CL47.co.uk site only 705, 711 and 712 were painted in Large Logo. Have trawled through various internet sites and can find plenty pics of 712 in the livery but none of 705. Can anyone confirm if 705 did indeed receive Large Logo ???

    .

On another topic, were the headcode boxes on the Large Logo and later Scotrail Livery version all the same on each loco ?

    Thanks

Just reading that fitting the mini ploughs is a bit of pain, these are a must for the WHL.

Also just found a 1986 picture of 401 at Eastfield with the black headcode box, decisions decisions.

There is no aerial hole on the nose with 430. Haven’t checked the model of 423 I have here.

I thought of another large logo tractor you could do from 430 easily - 422.

    Andi.

Going for either 421 (Inverness) or 422 (Eastfield0.

Checking to see if any of these two got the black headcode box treatment.

The centre headboard bracket was originally on the 37259 - 268 batch, so 401,421,422 and 430 of the eth ones.

I know some others acquired similar brackets later such as 426 and 427.

    Paul

    Thanks for that.

Had seen 401 with the bracket and now  managed to find pics of 421.

I suppose a hole can be drilled for the nose aerial and the orange cant rail can be weathered/T cut off.

  6. Looking for some info on Eastfield/Inverness Class 37/4's if possible.

Did any appear with the orange cantrail strip along the roof and down the side of the cab window ?

Did the locos work the WHL prior to RETB therefore they wouldn't have the nose aerial ?

Was 37422 (Eastfield based) the only one to have a centre nose lamp bracket ?

Have trawled Flickr and the internet with limited success, any info appreciated.

    .

Reason for asking was I have Bachmann new tooling 37430 and would like to turn it into a Scottish machine.

No it got a nose aerial in its large logo days. I’d say reasonably straightforward - 401 is the obvious one to pick - or any other with the centrally mounted lamp bracket. Flickr is your friend to hunt them down :-)

    Many thanks for that.

I should have said I had browsed through Flickr and couldn't see this loco with the aerial, link below from the early 80's.

Any pics of the Bachmann loco also shows no aerial although I wasn't sure if this was to be added from the detail pack. I've just managed to look at a review on youtube and there was a close up of the nose and I couldn't see a hole for the aerial.

  8. Was going to add a centre car to the Modelzone Class 108 and model as a 3 car Class 107.

Like the Harburn Strathclyde 107 I know the unit will not be 100% accurate for all the reasons  already listed about that model.

Just wanting something a bit different.

  9. Some of the Trainload Coal Class 58's carried 'RAILFREIGHT' Plaques on the cab fronts.

From what I can find via photos the plaques were the Black background type.

Anyone know if any of these Coal sector locos carried Red background plaques ?

    Thanks

  10. As a non sound person thinking of changing over to sound I'm reading up on this thread trying to get my head around the various chips and what you can do and what you cannot do with them (reblow etc), apologies in advance if I'm asking pretty basic things.

The list detailing locos and chip types on the thread is exellent but can someone tell me if there a difference between 'DCC Sound V4' and 'DCC Sound Onboard V4'.

'DCC Sound' and 'DCC Sound Onboard', are these one and the same thing ?

    Thanks

Yes there were a few. MU fitting started in about 1976, and headocde panelling over around 1979.

86002, 86020, 86033 definitely did, there will be others. 86032 had blanking plates for MU fitting whilst retaining headcode

    Brilliant, thanks for that.

Just googled 86002 and first picture was what I'm after.

Goodness why I couldn't find ite.

Next question, do you know where you can buy the relevant MU cables ?

  12. What a great thread for potential renumbering jobs.

On that subject, wondering if anyone can help throw any light on the following.

It was suggested that 20007 in BR Blue spent some time outbased at Inverness.

If this were the case does anyone know if it ever got an unofficial Inverness Stag stuck on the bonnet ?

Also, whilst running about the Glasgow/Motherwell area did it ever get a Motherwell Salmon (have seen with Eastfield Terrier).

I've managed to find 20020 with the Salmon but not 007.

    Thanks
