  1. Hi, A question about the above service. We've mostly all heard of the Strathpeffer Spa express, from Aviemore to Strathpeffer, the only train which did not stop at Inverness. We've probably seen the well know photo of the train, headed by a Loch near the start of it's journey, with headboard. Question - would the Loch have run through to Strathpeffer, or would a smaller loco be substituted at Dingwall? Thanks JG
  2. Thanks ASA, that was whom I thought of - I've tried emailing but not had a reply. I understand that is not uncommon, but given that I have a lovely Glen from his stable, I'm happy to know he is still trading. JG
  3. Hi, Can anyone recommend a current supplier of name transfers for the LNER D11 locos please? Thanks JG
  4. Can someone from the admin team direct me to the "Railways of Scotland " section here please. It used to be in the Special Interests section. Perhaps RMWeb have got the results of the 2021 Scottish referendum and we are now under Continental and Overseas Railways? JG
  5. I recall an article on a Nigel McMillan layout based around a coal mine with all the appropriate facilities. I think it was in one of the March Railway Modellers when they used to go a Scottish slant to coincide with Glasgow Model rail. They seem to have stopped this now. At a guess the issue was around 1974. JG

  7. Hi, The article I'm thinking of was definitely a main line station. I recall it having a steam loco and steam era coaches, and another shot of a HST. I think I've seen the title on a feature on roundhouses too, which is an option. I'm pondering a similar idea (station ) possibly similar to Platform 1 at Glasgow Central with the windows of the Hielan'mans' umbrella and a tram on Argyll street - it may take some time.... JG
  8. Hi, There was a micro/ diorama featured in a couple of magazines titled "Smoke and mirrors". It featured a part of a large station with one or two platform roads, and possibly a loco release road, part of a large station arched roof and associated platform equipment. Has anyone seen more of this and has it featured in any further magazines/ blog spots? It sounds like a good idea to get mainline stock into a limited space. Thanks Jingling Geordie
