Hmm, interesting. I think that is a little steep for a small locomotive

  2. Not sure if this is the right area to post, but I'm looking to buy the Hattons Barclay No6 in NCB green I live in the US and will pay a good price, plus shipping
  3. I was curious about collecting some Scottish region BR green diesels for my 60's layout. I have only 2 diesels so far Bachmann class 08, and Bachmann class 37. Would these be appropriate? I've seen class 40s and class 17s in photos. Although I've heard the Heljan OO class 17 was a bad model I'd like your opinions on this matter too. Thanks in advance, Dexter
  4. I'm working on an OO BR era Scottish region layout set in the 1960s. I was wondering about adding some shunting locomotives. Would a Class 08 be common? I know there were many Andrew Barclay tank engines and a couple pecketts here and there. I'm mainly thinking about NCB locomotives but I'd still be interested in some private owners as well. I'm looking at buying some RTR models, not kits. I have a few books that show Barclays but not much else. I hear the Hornby Peckett "Bear" was Scottish too. Currently I have; Bschmann class 08 BR green (late crest) Hattons 0-4-0 Barclay in lined green (on order) with NCB decals Thanks in advance, Dexter
  5. I was looking at the hattons and Hornby 4 and 6 wheeled coaches and I was wondering how long these things stayed in service after grouping. Did they change their colors after grouping? Would any have made it to the BR era? I'm specifically looking at the NBR in the red livery. I can't seem to find many references to them.
  6. Very impressive! though I dont think Bachmann's model will handle 35 wagons!
  7. Thanks! I've heard some negative things on the Hornby bluetooth decoders such as they burn out and don't fit in to many locomotives. How would this be as an alternative? https://www.ironplanethobbies.com/product/soundtraxx-tsunami-2-tsu-n18-steam-2-dcc-sound-decoder-next18-884010/
  8. I'm thinking of going to DCC/sound and I was wondering what to put into my Bachmann Caledonian 812. It needs a next 18 decoder and it already has a prefitted speaker. I assume I need a sound chip with steam sounds for it. I know many dcc chips have wiring for a speaker fitted to them. I've taken it apart but I see no wires coming out of the loco to connect to the prefitted speaker. If it makes any difference I live in the US, but i buy from the UK all the time. If you find an appropriate product could you send me a link in the comments? I'm new to this and I have yet to get any DCC chips or a controller. -Dexter
  9. Just got the Bachmann 812 in the mail and I'm looking to make a rake of coal wagons or mixed goods. I'm looking for some suggestions for what a freight train would consist of in the early 60s on a branch line. I have about 8 loaded mineral wagons and a brake van on her right now. Is this too many? None of my books give much of a reference, but I'm assuming since the 812 is a 3f I'd be looking at a light load -Looking for suggestions, Dexter
  10. I'm doing the west highland line, so would 6 be appropriate?
  11. I'm working on a layout of Scotland in the 1960s and I was wondering how many mk1 coaches to attach to the Black 5
