  1. Hi Jim thanks for the reply , I’m almost at the point (no pun) of giving up on this ans leaving it as a non usable point, no matter what I do no matter how I attempt to wire it locos just stall constantly as they cross and short out the layout. I’ve tried every combination of pairing and bridging the connections but to no avail maybe I need to start again with the wiring and have a rethink of the track plan I can’t find my scissors instruction leaflet and have trawled the wed but can’t see a Peco download so I’m stuck for now and it’s real frustrating
  2. Hi Jim thanks for the reply , I’m almost at the point (no pun) of giving up on this ans leaving it as a non usable point, no matter what I do no matter how I attempt to wire it locos just stall constantly as they cross and short out the layout. I’ve tried every combination of pairing and bridging the connections but to no avail maybe I need to start again with the wiring and re do the whole layout with new bus and more droppers and just ignore this scissors thing is I’ve 6 crossovers to power up and believed dcc would be a much easier way of wiring this layout after a few years of basic dc only running I can’t get my head round why the points short when only 2 wires control the whole layout
  3. I’m having an horrendous time attempting to wire up a set of peco scissors on my new DCC layout, I can’t add motors due to the location but have a hex juicer to control the frogs only problem is that every configuration I try the loco shorts as it tries to cross and I’m unable to work it out any help would be appreciated
  4. Hi chaps , the replacement Z21 landed an hour ago and boom 💥 we can read chips , we can see numbers and we get movement and clicks from the Z21 when you press read on the apps. Firstly I tried a simple Bachman chip I knew was set to 3 and it read it fine them tried a sound chip I knew the address of and again fine tried the sound chip giving me issues and all I got was 3115 then 255 , initially I managed to get sound from it and was seriously buzzing it worked then silence and all I got was 255 when I tried reading ( googling brought up a suggestion it might need weights or pressure applied so I tried it and we got sound again) I went into the settings section and can get most things operational now except for the lights ive tried the chip in 2 locos and the same results, all sounds work , smooth movement forward and backwards but no lights Just to say a massive thanks for your suggestions and the multimeter proved the last unit was faulty and I wasn’t being stupid and doing something wrong 👊🏻🍺🍺
  5. I’ve called the shop I purchased it from and they said they would send me a replacement after I explained the issues I’m having they say it should easily read a chip and the fact the reading is zero says there is a defect somewhere so a replacement is on it’s way will come back to the post once I have the new Z21 👍
  6. Yes as soon as I press read it drops
  7. So I’ve had a multi meter on the main and prog track and I get 16.2 , if I press read on the prog track it drops to zero when the green light comes on at the front of the Z21 defo an issue somewhere I guess
  8. I think I dropped the number in to see if anything happened as opposed to having no numbers in just frustrating that it won’t read any Chips
  9. Hi , yes I read the post but don’t have a meter , will contact a mate tomorrow to borrow one and follow your message and see what results I get thankyou for the assistance its a little more complicated than I expected so taking all this in is a slow process cheers
  10. Using both old and new apps with the now programmed 37 on the prog track I get these messages the chip in the image is the one that’s causing issues with only working on dc no matter what I attempt to do to it
  11. The 37 has just been placed on the prog track added it to the app and added the light on off switch and ran it backwards and forwards malls well when I do this
  12. 100% plugged into the prog track input I have the main track input pulled out so I know I just have the one track plugged in the prog track works ok as I can set up my sound locos and move them slowly along the short length of track ive even tried the old app on my tablet and that too gives the error message
  13. The Z21 turn from blue to yellow when I press read then after a min or so I get the error message and it goes blue again all my locos have been preset by my Bachman ez on the program track then passed over to the Z21 so in can set up my preferences in sound to run sweet on the layout even after setting up and testing on the programme track I still can’t read the chip in manual
  14. On my iPhone and iPad , doing exactly what you describe and using manual but just get error messages program track manual error If I go to loco and set up a new loco on the program track everything is fine and works perfectly just can’t read any decoder cvs
  15. To Izzy , it runs sweet on dc, sounds work too but pop it on dcc and nothing happens, tried resetting to 3 but it won’t work im new to dcc and an old timer who swore he would stay dc but after trying out some sound locos and dcc decided to restart my layout and go fully dcc its just understanding it all after years of turn a controller on and the loco moved now it’s brakes off, air hiss , engine revs and slowly it moves ( absolutely loving it ) but frustrating at the same time getting my head around it
