  1. Hi, Nikintheuk I really like your idea of identifying the buildings used by Superquick as their prototypes. A couple of years ago, I read something (not here, but I can't remember where) that many are "interpretations" of real buildings which were, and hopefully still are, extant in market towns in England. According to memory: The railway buildings and country town buildings are supposed to be from different areas. For example, IIRC then the signal box is ex-LNWR from somewhere in Cheshire, but the Market Building is from somehwere in Hertfordshire or Buckinghamshire. Other buildings are from Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, etc. Basically, whether by accident or by design, the architectural styles are all appropriate to within an hour from "Ambridge". Apologies if you hate The Archers... The Bilteezi prints were supposed to be photo-prints of real buildings, but I can't track them down at prsent. regards cs
  2. For illuminating an Underground station, I thought that "white" LEDs would work OK but but limited experimentation suggests that yellow ones are simpler and (very much) cheaper. That, for the above-ground buildings, as well as for sub-surface or platform-level scenes. "Natural" and blue ones are far too bright and simply too "blue" for my eyes, as well as expensive. Tunable LEDs are wonderful for an art, but are too pricey for a hobby.
  3. Evening all Can anyone help with sourcing Bilteezi prints? Their Weeblysite is pretty, but no links seem to work and although they promote similar products and producers such as Scalescenes, no links actually work when I hover/click. For those who need LU/Holden buildings: I bought several prints from Kingsway during the Bad Times, but haven't actually built them yet, so can't comment on construction or finished appearance - anyone got anything to share? regards cs
  4. All I apologise - I think I found the wrong thread, Have found another, more closely related to my question. Sorry to have bothered you, and good luck! cs
  5. Evening all Stunning work above, and much deserving of Blue Peter Badges of all grades, I hope. I still have the plans for the mid-'80s Blue Peter Layout somewhere... I found this thread whilst looking for "Cardboard Buildings and Kits" and am very impressed by the scratchbuilds and bashing. Am particularly impressed by mixed use of lolly-sticks and tea-stirrers: Do they make I-girders as well as they should? BUT: - Can anyone help with sourcing Bilteezi prints? 6. Dear All Sorry to come to this late, but I hoped I might add something. "Asbestos" was drummed-into me as "Useful but Bad" in Chemistry lessons at School, and "Asbestosis" was drummed into me in Biology lessons at the same time, and much later as a Post-Grad along with "Emphysema"... The various forms of the stuff can be nasty and messing around with them should be avoided. But they aren't all lethal, they are known by colours, and it's better to know what you're dealing-with before junking otherwise-decent kit. And if you do open it then don't scratch it. Above all, I'm sure we've all had this conversation before? Otherwise, I like my Duette (Slimline version) and am looking forward to getting a couple of loops running with add-on units. Am currently (bad pun) really surprised by differring results from Duette and HM2000 on models made across about 60 years, as there's no obvious pattern to their behaviour... All the best for 2024, cs
