  1. Good evening all. I’m still relatively new to railway modelling. Like many, I started “messing about with trains” during the lockdown as something to keep myself busy - and it kind of snowballed from there. My layout isn’t based on any real place, and I don’t claim to be aiming for perfection in terms of realism in any sense - for me it’s more about capturing the feel of what trains mean to me - the associations, things I wish I’d seen, things I have seen. My train journeys as a child were spent looking at run down factories, dirt canals, litter strewn embankments and people’s overgrown back gardens. I missed out on steam trains (much to my sadness as a child), so they’re included. So I’m loosely based in 50s/60s BR, predominantly Western Region (but not at all strict in that sense). Not everything I do is perfectly in scale - as long as it looks ok to my eyes then I’m fine with it - as I said it’s about creating an atmosphere and a feeling. Here’s a little film I made of my last running session - should give you a good idea of what I’m about if you fancy a look. Otherwise, see you around and about on the forum! 😊👍
