  1. They're all very different in personality though....the old one here ( 12 ish) has adopted every youngster that's joined the gang, he loves it, he thoroughly enjoys being a "cat dad" he even carried them around in his mouth like a mother cat ! What he'd think of another adult cat I couldn't say as all the "new boys" have been rescued kittens.
  2. Looks like a shot from a vampire film..
  3. Persuading them to drink enough can be problematic, I've been getting tuna in spring water ( as a regular treat not literally every day! ) and they'll happily consume the fluid portion of that...
  4. Not sure about the collar if he's a "He"...
  5. Me too!..There was a black cat at a place I worked many years ago who would ride on your shoulders like that, while you walked around, he'd stay like that for as long as you'd have him !
  6. Many years ago, with the previous generation of cats, they used to find frogs in the garden during the night, the noise was terrible, so I assume these had a good attempt at eating or at least mauling the unfortunate frogs, who not unreasonably, voiced objections !
  7. Well here's yet another, he was in one of the feral litters we rescued and was the only black one, so kept him ! All the other 3 from his litter were rehomed to one family and stayed together which was nice ( four may have been too many so just as well he stayed in the event ) He looks a bit brown here in the sunlight but is definitely a "black cat" !
  8. Cats probably, very wisely, don't much fancy the chemical muck they put in the supply water.. I've frequently found it undrinkable too. We've had bottled water for actual drinking for a long time now.
  9. In my experience when you buy something specifically for cats, they don't want to know.. They'd rather find their own stuff, or do it their way
  10. A grubby boiler suit is a favourite nest, maybe oily smells remind him of his scrap yard origins..
  11. Very saddening indeed to read of so many losses recently. The EasyPill thing sounds a good dodge I'll check those out, the big tabby is very difficult to "dose" with anything in any format, so worth a go next time he needs anything administered !
  12. As regards the pill thing, the worst here is the big tabby, he'll have your finger off if you try anything like that with him....we once tried one of those plastic "pill popper" things..he just bit it in half.....
  13. They all do that sir !....the current trend for paper rather than plastic bags has universal cat approval....
  14. Cats must love the ongoing success of Amazon, we usually get at least half a dozen boxes a week, I just fling them in the back garden for the cats to enjoy..
  15. Ours had a sprig of catnip each just now ( there's a bush of it in the front garden that they don't have access to) The big tabby is now totally off his face on 'nip' and did an epic fail in an attempt to do a simple jump up on to a chair, just collapsed in a pile on the floor...obviously some "seriously good sh.t "
  16. Our little white one used to lounge in his litter tray too !
  17. So..how 've goink to 'vin ze 'var mit zese tiny tanks Herr Leutnant ?
  18. The kit I have for one of these is the Miniart version..looks very detailed and a good representation of the real thing.. l will probably use wire rod rather than the thin plastic rods that come with the kit ( which would likely break when removing from the kit sprues anyway)
  19. On the contrary, those are most interesting !... gives an idea as to what's going on inside the box, much appreciated.
  20. Yes absolutely ! Cat's aren't silly, they have an inbuilt instinct that something's "up" and go to great lengths to make themselves "unavailable" for unwanted attention if at all possible !
  21. That's brilliant !.. interesting to see other male cats doing this.. I'd never seen or heard of this kind of behavior until our one took on the black rescue kitten, ( long before the white one arrived !)... he'd carry him about in his mouth like a mother cat does, and teach him "manners" etc, do the whole parent thing.. He did exactly the same a couple of years later with the white one !
  22. This one surprisingly wasn't too fussed by the "bath" he was given...that said he'd probably resigned himself to it by then. He'd had a long and very strange afternoon being eventually captured at great length, he'd been hiding and scuttling about under a big pile of old engine blocks and a myriad of assorted oily scrap, with lots of corners to evade being caught. It was a great relief ( to me at least) when I finally managed to get a hand on him ! He was then unceremoniously stuffed into a less than clean cardboard box, with a few air holes dug in it, all I could find at the time. After a clean up he took a bit of food, and soon got the hang of a mini litter tray etc. Then the long haul of getting to know all the other resident beasts ongoing..much assisted by the tabby who has, very curiously, always taken babies on board as a kind of foster dad figure !
  23. What a great influx of cat pics ! This pic a rare occasion when the little white one did the "on his back on my lap" thing. This is the one who loves a bit of a "savage" at you just for larks. In fact to me he's very friendly but a one person cat, and won't let anyone else go near him. He's a feral I rescued from a scrap yard, I thought he was an odd coloured grey kitten at first, it was engine oil and general filth and there was no option but to carefully dunk him in the sink and give him a clean up.
  24. I found an Aussie version on the same principle, they're hefty weights certainly..
  25. Looks like the wires run into a box at the base of the signal, presumably inside are cranks or pulleys that work the rods or wires going up to the signal....
