I’m into the railways from 30s to 50s, and Modeling branch line stations. I’ve recently been fascinated by dairy trains and hope to get my hands on a few 6 wheel tankers. I’m using this site with yt to spread the hobby to the younger generation. :)

  1. I just redid an ancient mineral wagon of mine (no clue what it is it was 50p in a holiday in Lincolnshire) and I tried to remove all this wierd yellow livery it’s in with a wire wool cloth and I got this really cool old paint thing. Beware if your trying this it will remove other paint so if it’s not coloured plastic it will just go white or base colour.

  2. Yes, but it’s set 1947/48, after grouping so a handful of GWR locos are known to have operated on the line as a lot of the LSWR stuff was transferred to busier areas. I’ve realised a 94xx probably didn’t run but my layout isn’t really that much like Bude, just based off it. Ignore the Bagnall and Railcar in the image I’m just using them for testing. Thanks for replying though.
  3. Do you think it’s feasible that a light dairy train with a pannier or something alike would have run to the Bude area in 1947/48? Just wondering as I really want to run GWR dairy trains and this is really the only one of my 3 layouts I could get away with it. I’m particularly looking at West Park Dairy wagons from Dapol as they appeal with my 94xx, which by the way may or may not have done shunting and freight on the Bude line. I suppose they needed to get the milk there somehow. Cheers all and thanks from Jasper
