I certainly learnt a little bit when stopping for a chat on Sunday :) Especially discussing how weather and light change the look of a scene.  

Although there has been a statement which says the NRM are reviewing what to do with Scotsman as its deal with Riley's comes to an end at the end of Dec. So be interesting to see if she is to be retired to heritage lines only. 

It is a common issue atm with everyone's costs going up at the same time. The sale of assets mentioned does make me wonder who will buy these if all lines are struggling.  

Who ever is maintaining their rolling stock wiki page is on the ball! I saw a FB post earlier today about seeing it on the move and it was listed under the SVR stored rolling stock (with a pic of it on display). I've just been back to check something and its already on the former list.   

The article does seem to indicate it was a popular engine, surprised they didnt announce it was for sale more widely (unless i missed it)

Aqulia was a fairly recent addition from memory and had formed a big part of their plan to keep the golden arrow dining experience on the rails. wonder what changed

Attempted suicide at a preserved railway, that isn't something I've heard of before. Is it a common issue on heritage lines as it is on the mainline?

Sadly it looks like some vandals damaged the signal box at Orton Mere by setting light to it. Such a shame for for the volunteers :( 

That would get families in which does bring in much needed revenue! Its not a bad shout guys

I like many put Ivor in the suggestion box so hopefully one day one will appear!

HI, has anyone had a squeaky Victory? I finally test ran my silver one and it has a quite audible squeak that hasn't gone away with running in. 

I dont know what was/is in OP4 but the idea of selling bits that aren't going to get to the top of the queue to those who would restore and use them seems sound. A good example is the USA tank which was very unlikely to be restored by the railway but has now left to be looked after by someone who will start the job. 

Two posts in a row above, one from Blandford and one from Boris, have pulled up the issue of paid staff seemingly taking more out of a railway than they are giving. As someone who isn't involved in running a railway day to day, what has changed in the last decade to bring in the need for more "staff"?

I am involved in a different heritage transport world which requires high regulation and specialist skills but still is hugely dependant on/ run by volunteers  

That would be a shame for the narrow gauge market. the Thomas range has provided some nice basis for 009 engines. 

Seeing the videos of Britomart's on peoples layouts is getting me excited to when mine arrives :) Hurry up Rails.

Ah, how did i miss them at MK! Looking forward to these. 

Went to the Sunday for the first time and very much enjoyed it. A nice selection of layouts, I'd have liked more than one 009 but that is a personal preference. Felt very sorry for those who required the lift as heard a poor staff member apologising often about how it should have been fixed quicker. I think my fav layout was Oakenshaw as love the world around the rails just as much when modelling.    

So used to time lines slipping nowadays that I didn't think the original update would be accurate 

Was there an ETA on these coaches? :) Need to make sure the funds are available when they arrive. 

Although a very different area I've been having issues with a 90s lighting desk for the local theatre due to electronic chips dying. Even with the oem supplying the software for the chip, full diagrams and a father in law who is an electronics engineer/designer it still not behaving. The idea of trying to keep a large loco going if its standing 70-80% of the time isn't a fun one.   

Wow, a sudden stop to cause that kind of bend. Always wondered if visiting engines had crews travel with them or if the railway supplied them for insurance purposes.  

Glad that its still a possible arrival at some stage. 

We had a great time when we went on the Thursday of the gala, great weather and not overly busy. We were even lucky enough to have the Std 4 tank pull the last train when it was not due to run until Friday. Well done all involved.
