The latest Radio Times also says that your layout featured some crocheted trees. This has heightened my wife's interest (she's a keen crocheter and liked the series even before this latest news!).

 

Yes we did make a crocheted forest ..... it was an ‘artistic interpretation’ and everyone except Kathy really seemed to like them. They were certainly colourful. And a bit different! 

We are in Heat 3 and we were serious modellers and our animations were an integral part of our layout BUT we also had cake! It was very good. 

National newspaper centre spread with the Railmen of Kent, also in Heat 3 on the GMRC alongside the LocoLadies.  It was, however in the Daily Star - not a newspaper we would have expected to see model railways in. They did a good write up though and hopefully more people will watch the show as a result! (Channel 5 asked us all to do the article). The dinosaur was put there by my grandson so we decided to keep it there. 

Tomorrow the LocoLadies and the Railway Men of Kent who took part in Heat 3 of the GMRC will feature in a national newspaper. It is a positive in that it has the potential for widening the audience for the show.... just not a paper we would normally read. It is The Daily Star. Organised through Channel 5. Never expected when I started my layout in 2017 with my grandchildren to have a tv crew and a professional newspaper photographer come and photograph it. 

Unexpected but the LocoLadies are going to be interviewed by a national newspaper tomorrow with a photographer coming to photograph my layout. It was built for my grandchildren so one of them came over to help get it ready. More info later. 

Delighted to find ourselves on the cover of the special edition of the GMRC Railway Modeller. First female team to take part in the Great Model Railway Challenge. 

This is the new poster for the GMRC. It starts on the 13th September and the LocoLadies Heat will be on Friday 27th September.  

Hi Ian. Good to be in contact. Nice pictures too. How are you all?  Pleased the GMRC has been put back to September too. One of my team was set to miss the first two as were some of my family.

Yes. I too have had confirmation from Knickerbockerglory that the GMRC has been put back probably until mid September. More chance for a younger and probably wider audience to watch it ....  which is a good thing.

As the team captain of the first all female team on the GMRC 2019 I concur that it was hard work but also a great deal of fun. Our team was highly skilled but not necessarily in railway modelling and I am really proud of what we achieved in such a short time and under such pressure. The film crew made it very enjoyable even if they did seem to spend a lot of time round our layout. Our heat will be shown on the 13th September (Friday 13th but we are not superstitious!).
