  1. Thanks, That would be really helpful. Regards David.
  2. "BY GEORGE HES GOT IT!" The water crane is very much my memory. The green on the site Stewart led me to is what I imagine things must have looked like when the painter was putting his brush away! Not the green I remember from "Haringay West, Finsbury Park" etc. We seldom went out as far as "Hertford East" so I'll take your word for it. The Railmatch cream will do nicely, I suppose if I needed even more faded green a drop of white mixed in might do the trick. Very impressed with the photos of your railway. Have you posted more that you could signpost me to? Very many thanks, Kind regards David.
  3. Hi Stewart, I had a look here, but as I say that's the "Paint Chart" colours. In one picture (a weighing machine) it shows the very faded colour that I may be "remembering". Thanks for the tip. Regards David.
  4. Hi Many thanks for your suggestion, I shall seek out some photos and see what it would take to knock up some. Regards David.
  5. Hi, I have memories of doors etc. being a "blue-green" colour (I suspect that I may have "memory Jumble" (part of Old timers disease)). can anyone put me right please? I'm setting my East Anglian model in the 1960s so the paint on doors etc. would be well weathered/faded as from what I have read there wasn't too much money spent on "Back water" branch lines. I've looked at paint suppliers but they all seem to have the "British Railways" paint charts which don't fit in with my memories. Any help/advice appreciated. Regards David.
  6. Hello 31A, The contact details are: mailto:Holtmodelrailways@talk21.com Mr Philip Bramley I'm sure he can assist. Regards David. P.S. I looked for the the list of modelling resources on the GERS (Great Eastern Railway Society) website. But what I did find was hardly "Comprehensive" perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place. any guidance welcome.
  7. Hi Stewart, Yes there are several alternatives. Regards David.
  8. Hello, As soon as I read "Mikes Models" it came back to me , many thanks. I looked for "Holt Model Railways" and after a bit of chasing around found the details and messaged them. I received a very prompt reply from a Mr Philip Bramley, he kindly attached a drawing of the range (with the caution that not all are currently in production) and some very helpful information from which I can see what I need. The contact details are: mailto:Holtmodelrailways@talk21.com Just need to talk to my accountant (Wife! Yes I really married an accountant) to sort the funds and I shall be ordering two. Once again thanks for the info. Regards David.
  9. I have been away from the hobby for many (40) years and obviously lots have changed in that time. My current ambition is to build an "East Anglian Branch" during the steam/diesel change over period. Diesel locos and DMUs are easy. With the Oxford N7 (No sign of the BR edition yet!) and Hornby J15 steam locos not too big a problem. Wagons and coaching stock Ok! It's the little things that are proving problematic. I remember that there was a company who produced GE water cranes, I have searched but I'm blowed if I can find any reference to such products today! In deed the whole range of "bits" seem to have gone. Any assistance welcome. Regards David.
  10. Thanks for the prompt response! Any information gratefully appreciated.
  11. Hi, Being a new boy I apologise if I'm asking an old question. When was the last transport of cattle by rail in the UK? Regards
