    Hi, i am purchasing a pre TOPS Class 26 and would like to be able to use this loco into the TOPS period. In the changeover period did locos ever run with the TOPS data panel and the older 'D' number? If I thought there was examples of this I would add the data panel to my Heljan model. many thanks

    Hi, Further to my initial query, if Dutch livery locos did not appear to the 90s then what was in use prior to that? Did normal revenue earning locos haul the engineers train or did the engineers have their own locos (just not in a distinctive livery)? I have seen a few things on YouTube that show a train of ballast wagons pulled by a a standard BR blue or Railfreight liveried loco! Thanks

    Hi, Thank you both for taking the time to reply. I have come to the conclusion that I may have to shift to 1990 of I want a loco in Dutch livery! I appreciate the help, thanks again

    Hi, I am building an engineers themed layout set around 1987. I need help to chose a loco that will have the 'Dutch' livery. Unfortunately from my research anything like the Class 26, 33, 37, or 73 seems to have this livery applied around the early 1990s. I would appreciate any suggestions as most of the rolling stock I have is in the olive green livery. Having said that I am not trying to be 100% accurate with things like region etc. Many thanks

    Gentleman, thank you for taking the time to answer my query. However I have now passed through stages confused, bewildered and now am at flummoxed lol! i guess I will just run the wagons behind my departmental Class 08 and hope nobody notices. Thanks again.

    Thanks you for your help Alex, it is hard to beat first hand anecdotal information. I just wish I would have paid a bit more attention in the 80s to what was on the railways then!

    Hi, i am very new to scene and have acquired some rolling stock in the plain grey departmental and 'Dutch' livery. However I am a little confused by some terminology. I see items termed 'departmental' or 'engineers', is this actually the same thing or are they completely different departments with different roles? Your help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you for your swift replies! I'm a little more knowledgeable on the subject now. i do have a mix of steel bodied hoppers (16t and 21t) but also some planked stuff too. However the later will be an excuse to have a layout set in the 50s or 60s. thanks again

    Hi, This is my first post so forgive my ignorance. I am very new to the scene and still learning. I have some NCB wagons and I am curious as to how late this livery would have been seen running? I intend to set my fictional layout in 1990. Can anyone advise what happened to all that NCB liveried rolling stock? Was it rebranded or sold off/scrapped? Again I appreciate your patience with a total noob.
