  1. Hi all, heading to uni in september so im looking to sell twigg street before then. im looking for £200 obo, id also like to sell my nce powercab its basically brand new everything still in the box looking for 150? im not sure how much its worth. The layout needs some minor tlc and a length of track replacing. ive attached a pic of the main areas. DM me for any extra info or pictures Joe
  2. A nice day out at the NMRA convention yielded some goodies £50 for 5 from anoraks, unfortunatly i couldnt find any locos that where suitable. Kamiack falls was really impressive and very inspiring so im glad i got down
  3. i will be heading down to the NMRA convention in derby tommorow!
  4. I plan on going to the convention on the saturday if i can get there! thanks for the info Joe
  5. A night well spent down at the NMRC, good company and i got to stretch the legs of some of my locos which seems to have fixed the running issues i was encountering which was awsome. These are really some stunning photos, i found the astoria branch album which is really interesting, time to do some more research on that as it seems like a near perfect prototype. im assuming for grain traffic https://www.trainworld.com/shop-scale/ho-scale/rolling-stock/hopper/athearn-18781-ps-4740-covered-hopper-great-northern-171556-athearn-18781.html https://www.trainworld.com/shop-scale/ho-scale/rolling-stock/hopper/athearn-63798-ps-2-2600-covered-hopper-np-1977-76002-athearn-63798.html these 2 types of hopper would be most appropriate for a small grain facility at the end of a branch. I like the idea of a door factory id assume that would also potentially take wood chips in our out aswell as boxcars? Joe
  6. Sorry i should have said in the post im looking to model 1970 washington state as the BN merger takes place. Im not sure what to do with the gp9 as it was kind of an impulse buy, i do have more NP-GN stock on hand as opposed to BM. I think a few small spurs would suit my space better, i read a very interesting thread from James hilton about layout design that i hope might help me with designing my own layout. i would like some sort of speciality industry look a food packing plant of maybe an electronics company but ill have to see. Joe
  7. Grain traffic seems interesting and the flatter part would probably suit me better as im not that confident with terrain and height, i also have some what i think are period appropriate grain cars. Im thinking for industries- grain elevator (covered hoppers)- team track (everything apparantly but mainly general use boxcars)- and a food processing plant( syrup cars, boxcars and reefers) Would bigger hoppers and boxcars be in service at this point or are 40 footers still standard. Time to start doodling and see what i can come up with. Joe
  8. I live! After a long break from moddeling while i finish my A Levels i have found my mojo again. Im looking to model NP just before the BN Merger 1968-69 mainly because ive already got a northern pacific S-4 and also just preodered an rs-3 (bowser) in NP an rs-11 in NP/BN patching and a u25b in GN both from rapido. I think ive managed to wrangle about 6=7ft of space with The first board has been built and plenty of inspiration has been collated from various sources. Any book reccomendations that follow the prototype would be incredible helpful as i dont know much about american railroads especially in this timeperiod. Thanks Joe
  9. hopefully when lockdown eventually lifts i can make it down to the notts club as it unfortunatly looks like the bingham club is going under, my project keeps stalling because im worried ill mess up and break something
  10. twinsies!, gp9 phase 2s are an ugly duckling but they are really nice locos, especially for £110 sound fitted!
  11. A new arrival courtesy of Sophie at anoraks, a brand new gp9 with sound! i need to run it in but the Bingham club is closed again because of the pandemic i was also considering joining the Nottingham club as apparently they have a north American section but the pandemic also saw that idea collapse in on itself.
  12. ive been vainly holding onto the hope i can fit the entire layout on one board but that doesnt seem likely alas that will cost more in wood for the fiddle stick, i guess the extra space is incredibly liberating as i can fit more operational interest in. Thanks Joe
  13. Hmm ive appeared to hit a bout of moddlers block, i want something that isnt an inglenook but is a puzzle to shunt but i cant see to think of anything, ive got 4' of space so i should get something interesting. ideas or creative inspiration very welcome
  14. track cutters and a second point should arrive tonight! Apart from that im still thinking about operations ive already been fishing thru the contikits website, but ill have a look at anoraks annonymus
  15. What about the athern jeeps, ive found some very nicely priced ones on the ellis clark website
