  1. A little bit of progress tonight thanks to a little inspiration from @chuffinghell I had been thinking about landscape and wanted a break from wires.

So I have busied myself putting in a sub base for the manmade bit of the landscape using some cardboard offcuts. The natural landform will be styrene followed by the usual plaster mix. I have a plan for replicating the earth river banks too (which may or may not turn to something softer and browner if / when I get it wrong...) but I will keep posting the results.

  2. Standard GWR windows too. That's actually a very interesting shot, I was looking around for such things in the hope that I could find a drawing but to no avail. I then reasoned that if the line was initially built by an independent, I could use the S&NWR design, especially when I could get round a real one for reference purposes.

I do seriously think that scene would make a model in its own right. It's a wonderfully composed shot. If you think about it viewed from where the little Morris Z van is standing, what a view blocker, never seen a layout with the high ground at the front.

    I have a 4' X 1' bit of ply left...

I am also nicking the scenery to the left of the gate for my layout as I have been wondering about that! :good:

  3. I'm as guilty as anyone else, I believe that there is a separate thread for anyone wanting to feel ethically superior by driving an overpriced milk float. PS, anyone seen the mess that lithium mining makes?

This car has a battery, probably a big old Exide or Dagenite. It also recharges itself as it drives along so as not to waste energy charging up.

It's also a damn sight more stylish than a Prius. :jester:

  4. That's what killed my last phone, which had a way better camera than the current POS.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with it, just that someone wanted to force me to buy a new one by rendering it obsolete.

Cue some 36 year old virgin calling me a technophobe...;)

  5. It might be a case of blocking and monopolising the EV industry, it's certainly happened elsewhere.

    Or

They could argue that the components were specifically designed for X application in their vehicles and are concerned about them being used not as intended and creating a potentially unsafe condition, so they felt that it was the responsible thing to disable parts from a vehicle that had been involved in a collision, blah blah blah....

Or perhaps the programming in those components were considered to be intellectual property and should not be used elsewhere...

Or just good old Waaaa! I'm taking my ball home!

  6. Most cars of that era were designed to be adjusted to run on low grade petrol, extremes of temperature or altitude. Now all that is done for you.

Most of my bikes were built in the late 1940s early 1950s and were designed to run on wartime "Pool" petrol. They still perform well on unleaded.
