  1. I have finally finished the station building platform facing wall. It’s not perfect , it’s a bit wonky in places, the hanging tiles have been a real pain, but i am really pleased with it.

When i started  this, i just had no idea how fiddly it would be.

  2. Hi everyone

I have been busy again with the platform facing wall of the station building. Once again i am using card 2mm, 1mm and a tissue box. For a building that isn’t really that big, it is proving very fiddly and time consuming.

This is really my second attempt at scratch building, and although i am not quite in the same league as some on here, i am very pleased with how it is turning out.

  3. Hey everyone, it has been quite awhile since i started this thread on Hayling Island and a part from a bit of chat very little has happened. Well i am happy to say that modelling has begun. It isn’t much as i am concentrating on building Hayling Island station building, and after a few attempts at the front wall, i think i have finally got it right.

As this is preservation the station building has undergone a few changes to suit it’s new role. The ladies waiting room is now the station shop and what was the toilets is now the station restaurant, the toilets will be in a separate block.

I have added a few photos of the front wall and a bit of the platform and also the loco shed, which although looks very modern, does look like what has been built on many preserved lines. It does require some detailing on the outside and inside.

I have added a few photos to give a rough idea of what it will look like. Nothing is pinned or glued down at the moment.

The pride of the line 32661 is in the platform with an ex LSWR coach and 13 Carisbrooke is in the shed yard.

  4. Hi everyone

I hope someone might be able to help. I have searched high and low, gone through my books on Hayling island railway, but i cannot find the dimension’s of the station building.

Has anyone got an idea, or I’ll have to just take a guess.

    thanks

Interesting, what do you do on the RH&DR... my Exhill Works is basically a 10.1/4" minimum gauge railway, at some point I intend to build a somewhat similar loco to a 15" one bit like 'The Bug', once I've finished the 'Tinkerbell' build.

I am a Train Dispatcher there. In the New Year i will taking my  signallers theory course, and with luck once i've passed it, i shall being training at New Romney box.

Any further progress, looks an interesting project.

Definitely one of those if only it had survived ...

I’ve had a busy year volunteering on the RH&DR, so the layout has taken a bit of a back seat.

i have finally started to build the baseboards that I’ve had for months . Once I have got the Santa’s and Christmas out the way then I shall start getting the track down and working out where to put things.

  8. Just thought I’d let you all know that on the 13th August I took and passed my train dispatchers assessment. It’s been a hard 5 months but I’ve finally done it and I’m now a fully fledged dispatcher on the RH&DR.

I’m working at Hythe on the 27th Aug so if any of you are down come and say hello

Thought someone might have already started a new one for the new board.

Rules - Suggest a Song that uses any word from the previous song posted. Not the Artist. Easy.

So I thought I would start off:

Video Killed the Radio Star - The Buggles

Well it looks like the thread has gone from any word in the song to any song at total random
