  1. Yes, I am using a 255.255.255.0 subnet mask. Thanks for highlighting the typo - the dangers of writing stuff up after a long day! Updated original post.
  2. Having recently purchased a Roco Fleischmann Z21 DCC system I wanted to change to the device IP address as I have quite an extensive home network and I didn’t want to change my IP addressing scheme to suit the Z21. This is an overview of how I did this, in case anyone else wants to do this. As they say, “don’t try this at home” unless you have some networking experience…. 🙂 For reasons I don’t fully understand, the Z21 is preconfigured with a static IP address: 192.168.0.111. I wanted to change this to a 192.168.200.x subnet address and ensure I could access the system via my Wi-Fi Unifi Access Point using my phone. The following is an overview of the procedure I used: Setup a subnet using the 192.168.0.x address scheme Connected the Z21 and my PC to this Downloaded and installed the Z21 maintenance tool Using the tool I changed the IP to 192.168.200.11 on the Z21 I choose this address as: I use the x.x.x.10-99 range for static IPs I use the x.x.x.100-199 for DHCP addresses Hooked up my PC to its normal subnet Connected the Z21 to a 192.168.200.x subnet Changed the address in the Z21 maintenance tool to 192.168.200.11 Connected using the new IP Using a copy of iTrain was able to connect OK Loaded the app onto my phone, and started it Went into Settings, Z21 settings and changed the IP to 192.168.200.11 Pressed the “stop” function on the phone to check it worked on the Z21 There is a separate Wi-Fi SSID for the railway to segregate traffic and allow me to *play* if necessary Note: if you are having problems finding the IP address of the Z21, Roco recommend the FING tool to find devices on the subnet Hope this helps anyone who wants to integrate their Z21 into a network the way they want. Of course, now I have a spare TP-Link router!!
  3. One has to wonder if Hornby purchased all the work done by DJM on the APT from the receiver....I am sure it would speed up development. I see that Hornby only appear to have shots of the real thing and no samples etc., which probably indicates it is in the early stages of development.
