And yesterday morning the day after we got the priority ASDA shopping slots finally, we found on our drive a box of food....”essential supplies” apparently because we couldn’t get it to shop and they (Gov) send the box while shopping slots are arranged.

Bit shocked really as we don’t NEED an emergency food box we have enough of bits to see  us through until we get something from ASDA in a week or so time......so.......quick phone call and the local food bank collected a nice big box of Government sponsored food for people who really need it, thank you Boris ;)

hi boxbrownie, at last you have yyour slot? do tell how you managed it in the end as i.ve been following your plight for weeks. Oh, BTW,I also was gieven the chance to receive emergency boxes over a phone call from the guv but declined the offer since I had the delivery slot.

Online for delivery is out usual method of shopping.  Any other option requires a train or bus trip and limits the amount we can carry - particularly of the bigger and heavier stuff.  I suspect the same has become true for a modest proportion of city dwellers these days.

Yes indeed, I appreciate that fact and if online shopping has been your normal shopping method then I would suggest that you and those like you are not part of the problem. I think we can agree the problems with online shopping has only been during the rush hour? caused by the virus panic?

I’m just trying to work out why we still haven’t been contacted by anyone!  Online form filled, letter arrived, consultants and Doctors letter there......but still not a peep from anyone,

I'm wondering if the name registered on the website for vunerable poeple is the same person who owns accounts on the various food distributers, As if the names, DoB and or address /email doesnt match up with the gov.uk list of vunerables the system will fail. also, the account holders telephone number needs to be available to the supermarkets to send text ect to poeple who fit the parameters.

I seriously think online shopping won't improve untill all the able bodied people stop ordering online and return to their usuall method of shopping. At least it would give shops a chance to catch up and provide a proper service.

Here in east midlands I am in the catchment area of at least 8 large supermarket companies but so far only one company has contacted me with an offer of help. So i'm guessing the whole system is still under more stress then it can handle.

I'm pretty sure that some people in order to beat the panic buyers and shortages in shops to be playing the shops from all angles, both ordering online AND going shopping in person.

On a lighter note, a friend of mine who works in a garden centre that is currently closed to the public has been visiting her local neighbours and asking them if they need any gardening produce and has been delivering it for them...at least they have something to do eh? sweet.

Well - the Government priority list has certainly gone out to the supermarkets !!

Over the past 24 hours, my wife has been contacted by Sainsburys, Tesco and Asda; all keen for her to patronise them via a Priority Delivery slot.

    It's nice to feel wanted!

heh, I knew it would catch on eventually.

i'm certain that past data records are playing a significant part in the whole business, with shops favouring past customers who do, after all, pay a subscription. I can also quite see that no one wants to say that at present.

I would agree accept, Morrison's had been my weekly shop supplier for two years, untill the rush on delivery slots started. Since then Morrisons have ignored me.And delivery slots remain impossible to find. However, Asda whom I have only used a couple times prior to the virus contacted me first with the offer of a priority slot.

. Asda appear to be trying to “do things on the cheap”.

As it happens, Asda is the only supermarket in my area who has managed to keep things together. Also, Asda was the only supermarket who reacted in my favour when the super vunerables list went up on gov.uk/

So if thats them being cheap, keep on Asda, yay.

We will be getting our first ASDA order tomorrow.....it’s like Christmas is coming

We put the order in 5 weeks ago, this was the soonest slot back then!

bit like the releafe of mafecon. or however it was spelled! congrats young man, did you manage to enable repeats on that slot?

  8. 1 hour ago, cctransuk said:

I don't think that recurring slots are currently available - at least at Asda and Sainsburys.

    John Isherwood.

When you get your Priority Pass from Asda the access to recurring slots gets re enabled.

No idea, I assume they can work out through the various supermarket deliveries who can cover what area (for example we have no coverage by Ocado) but funnily enough my wife just got off the phone from the Doctor who asked her if we have had the letter from the Gov about priority delivers, we haven’t as yet, which surprised the Doc as Mrs BB’s situation is very poor, let along my Mother who lives with us being 92 and undergoing cancer treatment at the moment..........if we cannot get a slot soon (and we tried again last night, no chance at all then as ASDA are only doing a week in advance all booked, and Waitrose were fully booked until July!)

    It is what it is.

For the List of vunerables to work people in that group MUST register on the appropiate website. And of course for delivery companies to do their job and recognise you as that vunerable person you must be a registered account holder for that company. Otherwise tesco's or whatever won't see your name and adress in the list...When you do finaly get that slot remember to make it a re-occuring slot so you allways have that day/time slot available.

    good luck amigo's

  10. hello all.

Today I may have good news for some ppl, After filling out that registration on the gov.uk site acouple of weeks ago, I was thinking that it might have been a waste of time.. but no. The good news is I received a text from HMG stating that my registration had been acknowledged and they would be adding me to the list of vunerables that supermarkets look at to checkup. plus notify my GP . And, Low and behold, Asda sends me a text this afternoon informing me I have a something called a vunerable priority pass, and that if I cared to login, I would be able to not only have priority over slots but also be able to enable repeat delivery slots every week/time. Wonderfull, I would add that a current account with the supermarket group is probabley necessary, so too late if the markets near you have closed out new accounts. but It really helps to know I can get food now, albeit, whatever is left on the shelves.

So, I hope this gives people hope for the future for keeping up the Stay @ Home  Stay Safe.

(maybe i'll get some actuall muddling done soon :) )

    all the best.

  11. Afternoon all,

I would like to ask if anyone has actually had any help getting food deliverys from HMG? I received a text today stateing that I had registered as clinically extremely vunerable. But not had a letter from the NHS to confirm this. We'll share your details with the NHS. If the NHS defines you as clinically extremely vunerable the NHS will contact you. Your GP will be informed. (my GP has my medical records, shouldn't he already know?).

It goes on to say if I need help getting food and supplies, but am not on the clinically extremely vunerablen list my details will be shared with supermarkets. They may be able to help.

I spent most of december and part of Jan/ Febuary in my local general hospital due to flare ups of my copd and was released to home with home oxygen as backup. I was looking forward to a gentle recovery through the summer and had only just got used to ventureing outside when the virus thing exploded on the UK.

Sorry for the waffling on, do you think I would be considered vunerable?

Anyway, I'd appreciate other folks views on wether or not I am in that group and also any advice from folks in the know.

    Thanks again

  12. I notice the bearfaced scaremongering is still going on in the media. Latest scare/Boo by one of the daily is PANIC BUY TORCHES AND BLANKETS!!! Due to and email from one of the power companys to their customers to keep certain items to  hand in case of IMMINENT POWER BLACKOUTS.  It seems all the big companys report no problems and say normal services will be maintained despite any shortfalls of staff due to self isolation or just plain sicleave..PANIC NOT!!

It must be a sign of the times, but I have just "got a slot" for Tesco to come around in 3 weeks time, and I feel like I have actually achieved something!!

haha, snap! you must have shopped same time as me...first slot ive got in 4 weeks. Mine is delivered last week in april..so happy but not extatic as still have to break iso to go out shopping till the delivery arrives. But on the bright side does this mean things are easing up? It is about time things did improve as the big stores have had over a month to work out a system to improve peoples chances of getting a delivery.

There was a report yesterday from some medics in a London NHS trust, that those suffering from COVID-19 who were severely ill enough to be put in ICU, currently stood a 50/50 chance of survival and they were questioning the situation where they would end up ventilating large numbers of patients knowing it was ultimately pointless.

From various press reports going out tonight, it seems that decisions have now been made to only give critical care to those who are considered to have a "reasonable certainty" of survival.

    Not entirely unexpected I suppose.

This is truly a dreadful situation.

    .

yes, and not entirely un-expected, It would not be the first time certain groups have been "sacrificed" for the sake of the majority. I know with my underlying medical problems I would probably not be volunteered for further intensive care as the liklyhood of my survival is slim to none If infected.

  15. Looks like Morrisons took leaf from Sainburies websites, they are also running some sort of que system. They do however, tell you if there are no vacantcies so you can avoid the quing up 45 mins before finding out.  :)

Morrisons stated last week that they were increasing home deliveries using Amazon. I don't know if has actually happened though.

    Stewart

hmm, well, I havent been able to book a delivery with Morisson's for two weeks. The chart does not show any available dates. I've had a 80£ order sitting in the basket for that long.

  17. 2 minutes ago, melmerby said:

Maybe there should be an order of priority with home deliveries.

    Possibly:

    1. Health Workers

    2. Vunerable due to underlying health (younger people with severe Asthma or Emphysema etc are more vunerable than older people who are healthy, an 18yr old with underlying health problems has succombed in the UK)

    3. Vunerable because of age & other key workers

    4. Everybody else.

Also delivery charges should be revised as some poorer vunerable souls will find the extra expenditure required for HD a strain on finances.

    Is this realistic?

Icelands started to do slots for the vunerable only, your asked to tick a box if vunerable then time slots appear not previously shown, however, no proof is asked for so quite how that can be policed is anybodys guess, plus its wide open to abuse as is the "only 2 items per shopper"  in store peramater, where whole familys shop, each memberhaving a basket and pretending not to know each other...lol, you really couldntmake that up.

If you're in the vulnerable group or self-isolating with, or suspected of having the virus, is there a local covid-19 support group in your area that can do a shopping run for you?

To be honest, I wouldnt know where to look for such a thing. I did look on our local council website where there was mention of certain virus help projects being discussed but they didnt give any clues as to what help or when any help is likely to become available..which is understandable. Being as this is all new I guess all the relevant groups are in discussion mode currently.
