  1. hi boxbrownie, at last you have yyour slot? do tell how you managed it in the end as i.ve been following your plight for weeks. Oh, BTW,I also was gieven the chance to receive emergency boxes over a phone call from the guv but declined the offer since I had the delivery slot.
  2. Yes indeed, I appreciate that fact and if online shopping has been your normal shopping method then I would suggest that you and those like you are not part of the problem. I think we can agree the problems with online shopping has only been during the rush hour? caused by the virus panic?
  3. I'm wondering if the name registered on the website for vunerable poeple is the same person who owns accounts on the various food distributers, As if the names, DoB and or address /email doesnt match up with the gov.uk list of vunerables the system will fail. also, the account holders telephone number needs to be available to the supermarkets to send text ect to poeple who fit the parameters. I seriously think online shopping won't improve untill all the able bodied people stop ordering online and return to their usuall method of shopping. At least it would give shops a chance to catch up and provide a proper service. Here in east midlands I am in the catchment area of at least 8 large supermarket companies but so far only one company has contacted me with an offer of help. So i'm guessing the whole system is still under more stress then it can handle. I'm pretty sure that some people in order to beat the panic buyers and shortages in shops to be playing the shops from all angles, both ordering online AND going shopping in person. On a lighter note, a friend of mine who works in a garden centre that is currently closed to the public has been visiting her local neighbours and asking them if they need any gardening produce and has been delivering it for them...at least they have something to do eh? sweet.
  4. heh, I knew it would catch on eventually.
  5. I would agree accept, Morrison's had been my weekly shop supplier for two years, untill the rush on delivery slots started. Since then Morrisons have ignored me.And delivery slots remain impossible to find. However, Asda whom I have only used a couple times prior to the virus contacted me first with the offer of a priority slot.
  6. As it happens, Asda is the only supermarket in my area who has managed to keep things together. Also, Asda was the only supermarket who reacted in my favour when the super vunerables list went up on gov.uk/ So if thats them being cheap, keep on Asda, yay. Roger
  7. bit like the releafe of mafecon. or however it was spelled! congrats young man, did you manage to enable repeats on that slot?
  8. When you get your Priority Pass from Asda the access to recurring slots gets re enabled.
  9. For the List of vunerables to work people in that group MUST register on the appropiate website. And of course for delivery companies to do their job and recognise you as that vunerable person you must be a registered account holder for that company. Otherwise tesco's or whatever won't see your name and adress in the list...When you do finaly get that slot remember to make it a re-occuring slot so you allways have that day/time slot available. good luck amigo's Roger
  10. hello all. Today I may have good news for some ppl, After filling out that registration on the gov.uk site acouple of weeks ago, I was thinking that it might have been a waste of time.. but no. The good news is I received a text from HMG stating that my registration had been acknowledged and they would be adding me to the list of vunerables that supermarkets look at to checkup. plus notify my GP . And, Low and behold, Asda sends me a text this afternoon informing me I have a something called a vunerable priority pass, and that if I cared to login, I would be able to not only have priority over slots but also be able to enable repeat delivery slots every week/time. Wonderfull, I would add that a current account with the supermarket group is probabley necessary, so too late if the markets near you have closed out new accounts. but It really helps to know I can get food now, albeit, whatever is left on the shelves. So, I hope this gives people hope for the future for keeping up the Stay @ Home Stay Safe. (maybe i'll get some actuall muddling done soon ) all the best. Roger
  11. Afternoon all, I would like to ask if anyone has actually had any help getting food deliverys from HMG? I received a text today stateing that I had registered as clinically extremely vunerable. But not had a letter from the NHS to confirm this. We'll share your details with the NHS. If the NHS defines you as clinically extremely vunerable the NHS will contact you. Your GP will be informed. (my GP has my medical records, shouldn't he already know?). It goes on to say if I need help getting food and supplies, but am not on the clinically extremely vunerablen list my details will be shared with supermarkets. They may be able to help. I spent most of december and part of Jan/ Febuary in my local general hospital due to flare ups of my copd and was released to home with home oxygen as backup. I was looking forward to a gentle recovery through the summer and had only just got used to ventureing outside when the virus thing exploded on the UK. Sorry for the waffling on, do you think I would be considered vunerable? Anyway, I'd appreciate other folks views on wether or not I am in that group and also any advice from folks in the know. Thanks again Roger
  12. I notice the bearfaced scaremongering is still going on in the media. Latest scare/Boo by one of the daily is PANIC BUY TORCHES AND BLANKETS!!! Due to and email from one of the power companys to their customers to keep certain items to hand in case of IMMINENT POWER BLACKOUTS. It seems all the big companys report no problems and say normal services will be maintained despite any shortfalls of staff due to self isolation or just plain sicleave..PANIC NOT!! Roger
  13. haha, snap! you must have shopped same time as me...first slot ive got in 4 weeks. Mine is delivered last week in april..so happy but not extatic as still have to break iso to go out shopping till the delivery arrives. But on the bright side does this mean things are easing up? It is about time things did improve as the big stores have had over a month to work out a system to improve peoples chances of getting a delivery. Roger
  14. I seem to be spending all my time stalking the shop websites looking for a delivery slot to become available, I may be gone some time..:P Roger
  15. yes, and not entirely un-expected, It would not be the first time certain groups have been "sacrificed" for the sake of the majority. I know with my underlying medical problems I would probably not be volunteered for further intensive care as the liklyhood of my survival is slim to none If infected.
  16. Has anyone noted any signs of break downs financial or business wise of the countries further advanced in lockdowns then the UK?
  17. Same herebut for different reasons. It makes for some embarassing moments when shopping in supermarkets! l feel like I should wear a sign informing onlookers that I am not infected!
  18. Looks like Morrisons took leaf from Sainburies websites, they are also running some sort of que system. They do however, tell you if there are no vacantcies so you can avoid the quing up 45 mins before finding out.
  19. hmm, well, I havent been able to book a delivery with Morisson's for two weeks. The chart does not show any available dates. I've had a 80£ order sitting in the basket for that long.
  20. I was thinking where are all the 3-D printer owners now.
  21. Icelands started to do slots for the vunerable only, your asked to tick a box if vunerable then time slots appear not previously shown, however, no proof is asked for so quite how that can be policed is anybodys guess, plus its wide open to abuse as is the "only 2 items per shopper" in store peramater, where whole familys shop, each memberhaving a basket and pretending not to know each other...lol, you really couldntmake that up.
  22. I don't see why we(as a nation) arent following in other countries footsteps and allowing other distributers(eg:Amazons) to help with food distribution..It works in other countrys. How many distribution companies are now finding themselves short of work now the retail side of UK business has more or less closed up?
  23. To be honest, I wouldnt know where to look for such a thing. I did look on our local council website where there was mention of certain virus help projects being discussed but they didnt give any clues as to what help or when any help is likely to become available..which is understandable. Being as this is all new I guess all the relevant groups are in discussion mode currently.
