  1. Hi all, Apologies for my absence regarding this topic. I have checked the wheels and the centre two are flange less as described. I've decided that when lockdown is over I'm going to take it to be serviced to try to fix the problem that way. Thanks for all your helpful comments.
  2. Hi John. Thanks for this. Most are fourth radius Hornby with a couple of second radius Peco.
  3. Hi everyone. Took delivery of a mint Wrenn 8F the other day and the excitement of running it (following a quick service/oiling) soon diminished when I discovered it could hardly get round the bends on my track! It's fine on straight sections. Just wondered whether anyone else has had similar problems with that particular model and if anyone has any tips to solve the issue? Or have I bought a pup? All the track is new, so there shouldn't be a problem there. Hmmmmm.........
  4. Thanks so much for all your help. It's very much appreciated. I ended up rebuilding the section altogether, step by step and it's working. Once again, thanks everyone.
  5. Hi Il Grifone and thanks for your post. The only point (which takes trains from the loop) has to be set to the loop for the trains to move. Confused! Thanks again, Peter
  6. Hi David and thanks for your response. I don't have a track plan, but it's essentially a large oval with a single point off, which is followed immediately by two other points to take trains into the station platforms. Sounds really simple and I feel it should be!
  7. Hi Joseph. Thanks for replying. They're Hornby R8073. Hope that helps. peter
  8. Hello fellow modellers, This is my first post, so please go easy on me if you're tired of offering the same advice over and over! I've recently returned to model railways after some 40 years away. My problem is that I have a series of right hand turnouts (3) which control access to the station from the outer track on my layout. I thought I'd cracked it yesterday when I reversed a Flying Scotsman out of the station (terminus) onto the main line and set it going forwards. All was well, so I thought, until I switched the point to take the train back into the station, when the train stopped abruptly and would only move if I "opened " the point to the main line. I think I once read about points changing polarity and I suspect I have a short which is stopping the train. Can anyone offer any help?
