  1. I will definitely take all this into account I'll buy some packs of couplings and I'll see what I like, thank you all for the helpful tips As for my last question, if were have a piece of rolling stock (such as my Oxford Rail 4 plank) how would one swap out the dummy hook in exchange for the 3 link? Would it be a case of cutting off the exposed bit and then drilling tiny holes for the coupling to fit in? Or have I been a complete dummy again and just completely missed an area to remove it? I have a lad who lives out west and he burns holes into his trucks for his couplings which he scratch builds, but I would not feel comfortable melting a hole into a truck... Patrick
  2. I would say my actual minimum is what would be 3rd radius, one of my engines has trouble on 2nd due to his wheels, that is why it's my bare minimum
  3. My apologies, I wasn't quite clear on what I meant, 18 inch radius is my absolute bare minimum, the actual radius will be much more gentle, and track itself it's peco flex track, so a set radius isnt really an issue
  4. If I had to specify my rolling stock it would be majority Lms stock and maybe even be stock, however It would be nice to run a plethora from the other companies (for simple fun of course and not realistic running,) as for curve and turnout radius, my minimum is second radius (I believe that's an 18 inch), as for all this I'm starting to think Kadee's may be the better option
  5. I have considered Kadee's, I suppose I could always fit the smiths on some engines and still be able to use the Kadee's interchangeably, and then form a decision on which I like more that way,
  6. Hello, I'm thinking of using Screwlinks for my OO Gauge layout, which works the best, which looks the best, what are easiest to obtain for someone in The United States, and how do you fit them to rolling stock and engines with pre-fitted dummy hooks?
  7. Hi, I recently looking into DCC Concepts Cobalt range, I noticed the multiple different types and I was wondering what the difference between each one is, and what would be the best for my layout (DCC with control of an NCE or maybe a Digitrax) it's running using Peco Bullhead. Cheers, Patrick.
  8. exactly what i was thinking! there should be some wood lying in my shed that i can use, and ill get to work ASAP Pat
  9. thats a good idea as well, i had a baseboard was already built for me already, the room its in needs renovating so its not too late to make a small practice layout, a 2x6 foot depot should be pretty good practice :] Pat
  10. im not clear on that, the layout will expand over time, im definitely gonna buy only one at first just to see how i like it the wire up everything else lets assume around 10 or more pat
  11. ah i see i would likely be better off getting the pre-fitted ones being my first time and all pat
  12. after reading a bit, we were correct, and the IP digital claims to be the best and most expenisve, right now the Classic Omega seems good for me, Pat
  13. Thats not too bad, i noticed on DCCC's website that there are several types of motors: a Classic, IP Analogue and an IP Digital, would i be correct in guessing these merely for different controls like DC and DCC? Pat
  14. Cobalt is starting to appeal to me, lets just hope DCC Concepts does worldwide shipping! Any complications with cobalt that I should be aware of? Pat
  15. that should help in deciding then, that's always a factor I'm looking for
  16. replacing the wire might be a bit of a drawback (which i wouldn't mind doing really) however i will consider all of these facts, Blue Point seems alright from what you say, ill look into them a bit more edit: ive started to browse the cobalt on DCC concepts and it looks appealing, but i would rather your input on them,
  17. looks as though most are suggesting tortoise, looks like ill most likely be getting them!
  18. Hello, i am in the process of building an OO gauge Layout (branchline and a section of mainline) and wanted to know what the best point motor for a DCC Layout, i want something that can be wired to a control panel, lasts a long time, works well, and isn't too hard to obtain in the United States, if you need details its a code 75 track with my controller likely gonna be something from GaugeMaster or the NCE PowerCab as I have used it in the past and found it pretty decent. -regards Pat
  19. i wasn't aware of any dispute, haven't ordered from Hattons before, new to this sorta thing y'know
